OMEN 35L Gaming Desktop PC GT17-0000a (BU4W4AV)

Hi everyone,

I own an OMEN Stealth Gaming Desktop – OMEN 35L Gaming Desktop GT17-0000in PC.

I noticed that the graphics card logo (“GeForce RTX...”) lights up properly. However, my CPU cooler is an LCD liquid cooler, and it does not show any light, logo, or display at all.

I understand that the Stealth model is designed without RGB lighting, but I just wanted to confirm whether this
is normal behavior for this model or if there might be an issue with my unit.

Does anyone else own the same model and can confirm whether the CPU cooler LCD is supposed to light up?

Thank you in advance!

Hi @raj21007

I really appreciate how carefully you’re thinking through your upgrade path—it shows you want to balance customization with peace of mind about warranty coverage. Let’s go step by step:

Upgrading to RGB Components

  • If you’d like to add RGB parts such as a cooler or fans, the safest route is to work with HP Support or an authorized HP service center. They can confirm compatibility and ensure installation is done in a way that doesn’t affect your warranty.
  • Certified technicians outside HP can technically perform upgrades, but warranty implications depend on whether non‑HP parts are used and how the installation is carried out. That’s why HP’s own channels are the most reliable option.

Warranty Considerations

  • Replacing the cooler, fans, or side panel with HP‑certified components generally does not void warranty coverage, as long as the work is performed correctly.
  • Using third‑party RGB hardware may still function, but it could require separate software for lighting control and may not be covered under HP’s warranty if issues arise.
  • The key distinction is whether the upgrade introduces unsupported parts or modifications. HP‑certified components are designed to integrate smoothly, while third‑party parts may complicate warranty claims.

OMEN Gaming Hub Compatibility

  • HP‑certified RGB components retain full integration with OMEN Gaming Hub, allowing you to control lighting and performance seamlessly.
  • Third‑party RGB hardware won’t be recognized by Gaming Hub, so you’d need to manage lighting through the manufacturer’s own software.

Next Step

  • If you’re leaning toward a full RGB setup, start with the side panel swap—it’s a straightforward change that opens up visibility.
  • From there, consider upgrading the cooler and fans to RGB‑enabled HP models. This ensures compatibility with Gaming Hub and avoids warranty concerns.
  • Before making changes, it’s always wise to confirm with HP Support whether the specific components you’re considering are certified for your system.

In short: your Stealth edition doesn’t have hidden lighting hardware, but the chassis is flexible enough to grow with your customization goals. By sticking with HP‑certified parts and working through official channels, you’ll keep warranty coverage intact while unlocking the RGB experience you’re looking for.

Hi @raj21007

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing the details so clearly. I completely understand why you’d want to double‑check this—it can feel a little unsettling when one part of the system lights up beautifully while another stays dark.

You’ve already done a great job observing the behavior of your OMEN 35L GT17‑0000in Stealth Gaming Desktop.

For this particular model, the “Stealth” design intentionally minimizes or removes RGB lighting features. That includes the CPU liquid cooler LCD, which in this configuration does not illuminate or display logos.

So yes, what you’re seeing is expected behavior for the Stealth variant—it’s designed to keep the look understated and without the usual lighting effects.

If you’d like to be absolutely sure everything is functioning correctly, here are a few steps you can take in Windows:

  • Open the OMEN Gaming Hub app and check under the “Lighting” or “Performance Control” sections. If the cooler LCD were supported for lighting, it would appear there.
  • Verify that the cooler is detected under “System Vitals” in OMEN Gaming Hub. Even without lighting, the cooler should report CPU temperature and pump speed.
  • In Windows Device Manager, expand “System devices” and confirm there are no warnings related to the cooler hardware.
  • Listen and feel for the cooler pump operation—steady, quiet vibration or hum indicates it’s working properly, even without a display.
  • Monitor CPU temperatures in OMEN Gaming Hub or Task Manager’s Performance tab. Stable temperatures confirm the cooler is functioning as intended.

From your description, the cooler is doing its job, just without the LCD lighting. That’s normal for the Stealth edition, so you can rest assured your unit isn’t faulty.

Thank you so much for the detailed clarification — that really helps!

I just wanted to check one more thing regarding my OMEN 35L GT17-0000in Stealth Gaming Desktop.

Is there any possibility of enabling the cooler LCD lighting through advanced settings, BIOS tweaks, firmware updates, or hidden options in OMEN Gaming Hub? I understand the Stealth edition is designed without lighting, but I just wanted to confirm whether the hardware physically lacks the lighting components, or if it’s simply disabled via configuration.

Additionally, I’m curious about future upgrade options:

Does HP sell a glass or transparent side panel compatible with the 35L chassis? If I decide later to move toward a full RGB lighting setup, would it be possible to upgrade the case panel and internal components, or is the Stealth variant chassis permanently non-RGB oriented?

Appreciate your help again — just exploring my options for future customization

Hi @raj21007

Thank you for following up with such thoughtful questions—it shows you’re really exploring the possibilities of your OMEN 35L Stealth system. Let’s break this down clearly:

Cooler LCD Lighting

  • The Stealth edition of the OMEN 35L is built to minimize lighting features. The CPU liquid cooler in this configuration does not include an active LCD or RGB lighting module.
  • This means there isn’t a hidden BIOS switch, firmware update, or Gaming Hub option that can “unlock” lighting—it’s a hardware difference, not just a software setting.
  • The cooler is fully functional for thermal management, but the LCD lighting capability is not present in the Stealth variant.

Upgrade Possibilities

  • Side Panel Options: The OMEN 35L chassis is modular, and HP does offer variants with tempered glass side panels. These panels are interchangeable with the Stealth’s opaque side panel, so you could swap to a transparent one if you want to showcase internal components.
  • Lighting Components: To move toward a full RGB setup, you would need to replace certain parts (for example, the liquid cooler with an RGB/LCD-enabled model, and possibly add RGB fans). The Stealth chassis itself does not block RGB—it simply ships with non-RGB components.
  • Compatibility: The 35L chassis supports standard ATX components, so upgrades are possible. However, lighting control integration (through OMEN Gaming Hub) works only with HP-certified RGB components. Third-party RGB hardware may require separate software.

Next Steps

  1. If you want to confirm your current cooler’s operation, check pump speed and CPU temperatures in OMEN Gaming Hub.
  2. If you’re considering upgrades, start with the side panel swap—it’s the simplest way to open up customization options.
  3. For lighting, plan on replacing the cooler and fans with RGB-enabled versions. That’s the only way to add illumination, since the Stealth cooler doesn’t have hidden lighting hardware.

In short: your cooler isn’t defective—it simply doesn’t have LCD lighting in this model. But the chassis gives you room to grow if you decide to move toward a more vibrant setup later.

Hi Hawks_Eye,

Thank you for the detailed explanation — that really helps clarify things.

I have a couple of follow-up questions:

If I want to upgrade my OMEN 35L Stealth to a full RGB setup (including RGB cooler and fans), should I contact HP Support directly, an authorized HP service center, or can this be done through any certified technician?

Would replacing the cooler, fans, or side panel void my warranty in any way?

If I use HP-certified RGB components, will they retain full compatibility with OMEN Gaming Hub without affecting warranty coverage?

I just want to make sure I follow the correct process and don’t accidentally void the warranty while upgrading.

Thanks again for your support!
