OMEN 870-219
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, I have recently been freezing in most FPS games which came to me as a surprise as this had never happened before. After searching online for every possible answer I couldn't find a particular solution for my issue. After looking through my task manager to watch my CPU usage while playing these games, I saw that my CPU was being overclocked to over 4Ghz. To my best of my knowledge, I shouldn't be able to overclock on this OMEN pc.  I was wondering if this was damaging my CPU or motherboard which is resulting in my games freezing. If anyone has come around this problem and has a solution or any recommendation I'm open to anything at this point.

@Kagen564 , welcome to the forum.

Good for you for being concerned.  However, the specifications for the processor state this:  CPU speed: 3.6 GHz (max turbo boost - 4.2 GHz).  This will happen when the task that you are performing requires a boost in performance; especially while gaming.  Therefore, this is very normal.  You would see a definite lack of performance without the boost.  The freezing may be caused by dust inside of the case.  This can cause the processor to overheat.  I suggest opening the case and giving it a thorough cleaning; especially the fan blades.
