@Vid1973,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Your PC is fitted with the Erica8 motherboard (SSID: 89D8), which has one M.2 NVMe SSD slot.

I assume you are referring to your M.2 NVMe SSD as your primary (boot) drive?

There are different ways to resolve your issue.

Option #1: If your M.2 NVMe SSD is full, then you could replace it with a larger capacity M.2 NVMe SSD.  If the M.2 NVMe SSD is your only drive, then you would need to 'clone' your drive in order to transfer your OS and data to the new drive.

Option #2: You got three SATA data ports on your motherboard which you can use to install SATA HDD/SSD drives: "SATA0" (dark blue), "SATA1" (white), and "SATA2" (light blue). You'll need an HDD/SSD, a SATA data cable, and a SATA 15-pin power cable.  For speed and performance, I would recommend using a SATA SSD.

Option #3: You do not have an M.2 NVMe SSD installed but have a SATA SSD drive. In that case, purchase and install an M.2 NVMe SSD, then clone your SATA SSD to the M.2 NVMe SSD, and make that your primary (boot) drive.

If you need any assistance/directions what to do based on your particular needs/situation, please let me know.

Kind Regards,

Hi all.

NonSequitur777 - Thank you for your reply, appreciated.

I like your option 3 but could I not just purchase a M.2 NVMe SSD and just use that as a 2nd drive instead of "cloning" etc ?

Appreciate your response 🙂

Thank you.

Hi again !!!

Sorry for this question before i open up my desktop ... can you advise if I have another slot for a extra ssd rather than replacing with a bigger ssd and cloning ?

@Vid1973,

Like I pointed out: Your PC is fitted with the Erica8 motherboard (SSID: 89D8), which has one M.2 NVMe SSD slot.

personally, I think it is worth the effort to clone your existing M.2 NVMe SSD to a larger M.2 NVMe SSD using the Macrium Reflect Free software, using a USB to M.2 NVMe SSD adapter, such as this Amazon-UK purchase example: https://www.amazon.co.uk/ANYOYO-Enclosure-Adapter-Compatible-Aluminum-Deep-Gray/dp/B09H6K3TTQ/ref=sr....
