Hi,

The Omen 880 series desktop PCs are upgradable. Please provide the full product number such as Omen 880-010 or 880-120.

Omens shipped with Intel gen 8 CPUs such as a i7-8700. CPU upgrades are limited to Intel Gen 8 CPUs. Or the 880 shipped with a Ryzen "Zen" CPU. Upgrades to a newer Ryzen depends on HP BIOS support.

Upgrading the graphics card at this time without breaking the bank will be tough. The 880 products I have looked at have a 500 watt power supply and were using a GTX 1080 in some product numbers. You would have to upgrade the power supply if you are looking at high TDP 3000 series Nvidia graphics cards.

Plus you have to measure the chassis and MB to see if you can install one of the newer graphics cards.

Regards

Hi,

I stand corrected.

@Prométhée found a motherboard that supports a 9700K.

I promise to do better research in the future 😀

This site (Link) compares a 8700K to a 9700K. The 9700K costs about $300.00 I don't think I would upgrade to a 9700K if my MB supports this processor and I have a 8700K. Save your money, buy a new PC.

You can compare your current CPU to a 9700K at this site. Buy a 9700K if the difference in performance exceeds the cost of the upgrade.

A graphics card upgrade is also questionable when comparing current graphics card prices to MSRP.

😉

@THEINFINITE
as long as the model is not given, we will not be able to say anything more
But indeed, with the problem of availability of graphics cards, the price, the power supply module may have to be replaced, it may be necessary to wait a little before being able to play in ultra with certain games.

Hi,

@Prométhée,

I concur with your observation.

You have validated my initial conclusion! 😊

I know this model a little, I had the time to do some research !

for some points
I just didn't have too much time to look for the power supply
from memory, I may have just found the reference for the 700w

It depends on the model, but it is a very good machine, even with a gtx 1070, we manage to play in good conditions with a few games.
When it came out, I saw very little problem with the Fr community, and in general it was just requests for a graphics card.

@THEINFINITE

I wanna know if that's doable with the omen desktop I have I have never taking the sides off, and there not glass.
