OMEN by HP 27 inch QHD 165Hz Gaming Monitor - OMEN 27q

So I bought a new Omen 27q monitor

The first time i plugged it in it instantly started to go through screens of red, green, blue, white and black

also i couldn`t change anything in the OSD-menu but i could use the power button and even block it.

Trying to hard reset it didn`t work and now i`m kinda lost what to do

Hi @LechnPat,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Omen 27q monitor stuck in Factory Mode!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Your Omen 27q monitor is stuck in Factory Mode, which is likely a burn-in test mode used during manufacturing. Here’s how to fix it:

Step 1: Try Exiting Factory Mode

  1. Turn off the monitor.
  2. Unplug the power cord and disconnect all cables (HDMI/DisplayPort).
  3. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  4. Reconnect the power cable (only power, no video cables).
  5. Turn it on and see if it exits Factory Mode.

Step 2: Use Factory Reset via OSD (If Accessible)

If the OSD menu is responsive:

  1. Open the OSD Menu (On-Screen Display).
  2. Go to "Factory Reset" or "Reset All" (under Settings/Management).
  3. Confirm and restart the monitor.

Step 3: Use a Key Combination (Force Exit)

Some Omen monitors allow exiting Factory Mode via a key combination:

  1. Turn the monitor OFF.
  2. Press and hold Menu + Power simultaneously for 10-15 seconds.
  3. Release and turn it on.

Step 4: Check Monitor Firmware (If Issue Persists)

If Factory Mode persists, check if a firmware update is available:

  • Visit HP Support and search for Omen 27q firmware updates.
  • If available, follow instructions to update via USB or PC.

Let me know if any of these steps helped! 😊
