@Ethan_1065,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

I am sorry to hear about the charging issue with your HP Victus 15. Let’s troubleshoot the problem step by step:

1. Check the Basics:

  • Power Source: Make sure the wall outlet or power strip you’re using is working. Try plugging another device into it to confirm.
  • Charger and Cable: Inspect your charger and cable for visible damage (e.g., frayed wires, bent connectors). If possible, try using a compatible HP charger to rule out a faulty adapter.

2. Perform a Hard Reset:

This helps resolve temporary power or hardware issues:

  1. Disconnect the charger and remove any connected peripherals (e.g., USB devices).
  2. Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds to drain any residual power.
  3. Reconnect the charger (without turning on the laptop) and see if the charging light turns on.

3. Look for Charging Indicators:

  • Check for a charging light near the charging port or on the side of your laptop.
  • If the light is blinking or doesn’t come on at all, it could indicate a hardware issue.

4. Test with Another Charger (if possible):

If you have access to another compatible HP charger, test your laptop with it. This helps identify whether the issue lies with the charger or the laptop itself.

5. Battery Reset (for non-removable batteries):

Some HP laptops have a battery reset pinhole on the bottom. Use a paperclip to press and hold the reset button for about 10-15 seconds, then try charging again.

6. Inspect the Charging Port:

Check if the charging port is:

  • Loose or damaged: If it wiggles when you insert the charger, it might need repair.
  • Blocked by debris: Gently clean it using a toothpick or compressed air.

7. Update or Check the BIOS (if power is available):

If the laptop turns on briefly with the charger connected:

  1. Go to the HP Support website and check for a BIOS update.
  2. Follow the instructions carefully to update your BIOS, as it can resolve power-related issues.

Next Steps if It Still Won’t Charge:

If the above steps don’t resolve the issue, it’s possible the problem is with:

  • The battery (e.g., dead or malfunctioning).
  • Less likely: The motherboard or power circuitry.

In this case, I recommend taking the laptop to an authorized service center for further diagnosis.

Let me know if you need help with any of these steps!

Kind Regards,
