I have done the following to 5 different hard drives of the same brand. One of them was WD black 6TB hdd from ebay (preowned), two WD black 4TB gaming hdd from walmart (New), and the last two were WD black 4TB gaming hdd from OfferUp (New).
I was trying to install and additional drive for extra storage.
I made sure the computer was powered off and I was grounded.
I installed the first hdd then powered on the computer. The hdd begins to begin making clicking noises. I never stops but the computer does recognize the drive and I was able to set it up. The clicking never stopped. I called WD and explained the situation. They concluded that the drive was faulty and the clicking is never a good sign.
I had the same problem with the other four drives for a total of five. It's not possible that all are bad, including the new ones. Like I said the computer recognizes them and set up is successful but the clicking never stops. The primary hard drive doesn't make the noise. I tried different things including swapping sata cables as well as swapping the sata ports on the motherboard. I can't figure it out.

@iamlovegod , welcome to the Community.
I don't believe there is much you can do to stop the clicking. The WD tech is most likely correct. It could be a faulty batch of drives. As he stated, clicking is never a good sign. It normally leads to failure.
I have had numerous HDD's over the years and never had one with clicking.
