HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop PC TG01-1000a (2W848AV)

Dear HP Experts or Computer Experts,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to seek your expert guidance and advice regarding a technical matter concerning the compatibility of RAM modules for my desktop computer.

I currently possess a desktop computer equipped with RAM slots that have a CAS Latency (CL) rating of 22 (CL22). In light of this, I am contemplating upgrading the system's memory by incorporating additional RAM modules. After conducting preliminary research, I have come across RAM modules with varying CAS Latency specifications, particularly CL16 and CL18.

Given the aforementioned circumstances, I am seeking your professional expertise to ascertain the compatibility of RAM modules featuring CL16 or CL18 with a desktop computer that possesses RAM slots designed for a CL22 specification. Specifically, I would greatly appreciate your insights on whether it is technically viable to install RAM modules with lower CAS Latency values, such as CL16 or CL18, into a system with CL22 RAM slots. Additionally, I am interested in understanding any potential performance implications, stability concerns, or other factors that may arise from such an upgrade.

I understand that your expertise in this field would be invaluable in helping me make an informed decision regarding this upgrade. Your insights will greatly aid in ensuring the optimal functioning and longevity of my desktop computer.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to review and respond to my inquiry. I eagerly await your professional opinion and guidance. Please feel free to contact me at my email at your earliest convenience. I am grateful for your assistance and look forward to benefiting from your expertise.

Sincerely,

MrlegO_Mr2legO

@MrlegO_Mr2legO,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Personally, I wouldn't worry about CAS latency, but rather if the RAM modules you are going to install are dual rank (2Rx8) or not, and you want to install identical RAM: same brand, model, and capacity for best RAM performance.

An affordable dual-rank RAM kit example for your desktop would be (2 x 16GB): https://www.amazon.com/Timetec-3200MHz-PC4-25600-Gaming-Regular/dp/B07QRVNB26/ref=sr_1_1?crid=31LQWO....

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,
