OMEN 35L Gaming Desktop PC GT16-0000i RCTO Base Model
Microsoft Windows 11

 I purchased this PC in November 2024. Upon recently running a fresh system wipe, I discovered the system shipped with an outdated BIOS version. Due to this original BIOS state, my Intel Core i7-14700K processor suffered thermal and over-voltage damage.

Given the known 14th Gen Intel instability issues and the industry-wide warranty extensions for these processors, I am requesting a warranty replacement for my affected CPU. Please let me know the next steps to process this replacement.

Thank you!

@Gav245,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Thank you for your post.

I understand you're requesting that HP evaluate your Intel Core i7-14700K for replacement under the extended warranty coverage for affected 13th/14th Gen Intel desktop processors.

HP will likely need to verify that your processor is exhibiting symptoms consistent with the known Intel instability issue before authorizing a replacement. Simply having an earlier BIOS version installed when the system shipped may not, by itself, be sufficient to establish that the processor has been damaged.

To help your case, it would be useful to provide:

  • Your current BIOS version.
  • Whether you've updated to the latest BIOS containing Intel's microcode update.
  • The symptoms you're experiencing (for example, application crashes, BSODs, WHEA hardware errors, instability during gaming or compiling, or failed diagnostics).
  • The results of any HP hardware diagnostics or other relevant testing you've performed.

If HP determines that your processor is affected by the known Intel issue and qualifies under the extended processor warranty program, they should be able to advise you on the next steps for replacement.

Please let me know your current BIOS version and the symptoms you're seeing, and I can help determine whether they are consistent with the known Intel processor instability issue.

Kind Regards,

I had a long call before with them about my computer issues, but I had originally thought it was motherboard and since it was 3 days after the warranty expiration they wouldn't help me. its been a bit since them and I no longer have a way of getting my logs from before but the thermal throttling was bad, base Minecraft would crash giving CPU errors, my xmp settings were removed, my ethernet port kept getting disabled randomly. it was a whole group of issues, and they had me on the phone for 8 hours transferring me to everyone but the right person. Intel wouldn't warranty it, since omen built it, but omen never told me anything about if they had been doing the warranty extension for that CPU that most companies did and i would still fit within that time span.

I no longer have it active since they **bleep**ed me over the first time, so i cant generate logs anymore unless i can find the throttling in the ticket i sent intel. and yes and old bios would cause issues since, the fix that stopped the overheating was a bios patch and if my bios never got updated it was most likely pre patch, I should not have had any CPU issues off the get go if there had not been any issue. this experience has been awful and all i needed was a replacement. i could have shipped back the old part after to have them verify

the excel document was logged under a stress test, it throttled even under lower temps. Minecraft gave me multiple errors with my cpu having issues, which i have never seen until i used this computer, the bios was outdated, my rams xmp settings kept getting removed, and my ethernet would get shut off randomly, even adding a usb-c to Ethernet didn't help this issue. All the settings were base except for the ram xmp settings, which where a different omen provided preset. These are to frequent of errors to be random

@Gav245,

My friend, the best I can/could do was to notify the HP moderator to look into your issue.

I truly hope HP will make this right.

Hi @Gav245,

Thank you for providing the additional details and the stress-test results. I understand the history of the issue and the troubleshooting you have already gone through with HP.

Since this may require a review of the previous service history and whether the processor qualifies for the applicable warranty coverage, I’d like to have a look into this further.

Please send me your previous HP case ID via private message so the appropriate team can review the case details and advise you on the next steps.

the previous case wont matter as everything written in it was about the motherboard and i assumed that was the original issue, there is no information provided in it that is not provided in this chat. most of it was over the phone before and i would prefer we focus on this one. There was never any work done on this, so there was no service history, the only ticket was involving motherboard bc they can have similar issues.
