I’m interested in upgrading SSD into “Samsung 990 PRO “. That is PCIe 4.0 with Read/Write speed- 7,450/6,900 MB/s.
Does my laptop(Hp Pavilion 15 eg3026tu) support it? If not, the any other PCIe 4.0 or PCIe 3.0 ssd. That is recommended.

Hi:
Since there is no service manual that covers your notebook's specific model series, the one on the support page being for the older 15-eg1xxx model series...The max memory indicated in chapter 1 is 2 x 8 GB which your notebook already has...
HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eg3000 - Setup and User Guides | HP® Support
The only suggestion I can offer would be to run this command to see if it would be possible to install more than 2 x 8 GB of memory:
1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.
This will open the command prompt.
2. After the command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.
There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.
The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.
The Crucial memory report for the 15-eg3xxx model series indicates the max memory is 2 x 32 GB of DDR4-3200.

Hi:
Yes, the 990 Pro should work at or near its advertised read/write speeds.
While the HP specs don't mention the PCIe generation of the 512 GB NVMe SSD that comes with the model, the parts list shows PCIe Gen 4.0 NVME SSD's are supported.

I installed “SAMSUNG 990 PRO” as new SSD. That is PCIe 4.0 SSD, that provides read/ write speed of 7450/ 6900MB/s.
But after installation, it provides read/ write speed nearly of 3500/ 3300MB/s, which is PCIe 3.0 SSD speed. I checked its benchmarks in CrystalDisk, Samsung Magician and also in cmd.
In Samsung Magician it shows SSD interface PCIe Gen. 3x4 (and recommended to connect PCIe 4.0 for optimal speed) Same in-
CrystalDiskInfo tester it shows, transfer Mode => ( current mode- PCIe 3.0x4) & (supported mode- PCIe 4.0x4)
Does it means my laptop supports gen. 4 SSD, But it is utilising gen. 3 speed. Is it some kind of setting or BIOS change, that I should correct by changing gen 3 to gen 4?

Wow.
I am absolutely surprised that the drive is only running at the PCIe Gen 3 speed.
Here's why...
If you look up the Intel specs for the processor, the processor itself is PCIe Gen 4.0, but the chipset is PCIe Gen 3.0.
Intel Core i51340P Processor 12M Cache up to 4.60 GHz Product Specifications
I don't understand why HP would have installed a PCIe 4 x 4 NVMe SSD in your notebook when the M2 slot is only Gen 3.0.
Unfortunately, there isn't anything you can do about it since it is a hardware limitation of the M.2 slot.
The report is telling you that the transfer model is PCIe 3.0 and the NVMe SSD is capable of PCIe 4.0 transfer speeds.

Sir, can you please elaborate (the processor itself is PCIe Gen 4.0, but the chipset is PCIe Gen 3.0).
My very first question was does my laptop support PCIe 4.0 SSD. On which you responded, Yes, the 990 Pro should work at or near its advertised read/write speeds. Can you please clear the situation, that will be very much appreciated.
Should I keep things going on by using Samsung 990 pro as my SSD?

Sorry but I can't elaborate any more than the Intel specs indicated.
I based my answer on the parts list where HP installed a PCIe Gen 4 SSD in your notebook in my first reply to you.
My assumption was that if HP installed a PCIe Gen 4 x 4 SSD in your notebook, then it would work at the Gen 4 speed.
I did not look any further than that.
I would continue to use the drive you installed as there isn't anything wrong with it, and it won't cause any issues with your PC any more than the one you removed did.
