Product: Omen Desktop PC 880-145no
This message appeared when I started my computer.
I've checked the fans and cleaned them up, and they seem to work fine. I see a lot of people with the same question but all of them had to do with Liquid Cooling, this PC doesn't have that.
Any reasons and/or solutions to this?

Welcome to our HP Community forum!
Thank you for posting!
You're not alone -this alert shows up on several HP OMEN models, including the 880-145no, and often causes confusion.
Let's clear things up:
Message:
“A fan is not operating correctly. Continued operation of the computer is not recommended” – PUMP SPEED (90B)
Explanation:
Despite the “PUMP SPEED” reference (which normally applies to liquid-cooled systems), your OMEN 880-145no ships with an air cooler -not liquid cooling. This is likely a false alarm triggered by BIOS fan monitoring, expecting a signal from a nonexistent liquid cooling pump.
Here’s what you can do:
Inspect CPU Fan:
Make sure it’s spinning and plugged into the CPU_FAN header (not SYS_FAN).
If it is connected correctly and spins fine, it’s likely just a reporting glitch.
Enter BIOS (F10 on startup):
Look under “Hardware Monitor” or “Thermal Configuration”.
Check if the CPU fan RPM is reading correctly. If it says 0 RPM but the fan is running, the BIOS may be misinterpreting it.
Reset BIOS Defaults:
Tap F9 to reset settings, then F10 to save and exit. Sometimes this clears incorrect fan detection flags.
Update BIOS:
Head over to the HP Support page for the OMEN 880-145no and make sure you’re on the latest BIOS version. BIOS updates often resolve misreported thermal issues.
Optional [if available]:
If your BIOS allows it:Navigate to Advanced > Thermal Configuration.
Look for something like Pump Fan Monitoring or Pump Fan Control and set it to Ignore or Disabled.
Bottom Line:
If your CPU fan is spinning, system temperatures are normal, and you’ve confirmed there’s no liquid cooler installed, you can safely ignore this warning or disable the monitoring (if the option exists).
Let me know how it goes!
Kind Regards,
