Greetings

Welcome to the HP Forum.

Is your PC in warranty?

What fan (system/chassis fan or CPU fan)? Remove the side panel and power on the PC to see if a fan is not spinning.

Don't use the PC if the CPU fan has failed.

So, a fan might be failing or it is a false alarm.

You'll have to replace a failing fan.

You could reset the BIOS to defaults or do a CMOS reset to see if this helps.

Let the Forum know if you want to try a: BIOS reset or a CMOS reset.

I took off the side pannel and i saw 3 fans and they all seem to be workinjg so i believe it was a false alarm!

The fan speed may not be hitting BIOS targets at system startup or at a system restart.

Keep an eye on this. The fan could be in the early stages of failure.

You could download and run HWiNFO portable to check all component fan speeds and component temps.

"The fan speed may not be hitting BIOS targets at system startup or at a system restart." What does that mean I'm very new to these pc terms as this has never happened to me before

Greetings @Tazz6

HP consumer BIOS': fan curves and fan speeds are not configurable.

The BIOS may be detecting a fan RPM problem at startup. Hence you see a fan error. The fan may now be spinning at a lower speed during operation which can affect component thermals. This is why I suggested checking stuff using HWiNFO.

The error you encountered may have been a one time anomaly.

Are you seeing this error every time you start or restart the PC? And, you need to ID if a system fan or the CPU fan is causing the BIOS POST error.

You want to replace the CPU fan ASAP if the CPU is running hot.

Regards
