There are real, measured frame-time stalls. During at least one recorded stall, GPU utilization and power dropped while GPU clock remained high. Separate captures show the GPU operating normally at high load. Stuttometer recorded multiple presentation/pipeline-stall events. There was also a genuine NTFS-related Windows crash, but its causal relationship to the gaming stutters has not been demonstrated.

Hi @ClosingYard
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
I understand how it can be to experience stuttering during gameplay, especially when you've already taken the time to collect frame-time and GPU behaviour data.
Based on your observations, it appears that the GPU is not consistently being limited by its clock speed, as the clock remains elevated even during some of the stalls.
The recorded drops in GPU utilization and power, along with the events identified by Stuttometer, suggest that the GPU may at times be waiting on another component or process before it can present frames.
To better understand the behavior, could you kindly let us know:
- Have you noticed the stuttering across multiple games or only in specific titles?
- Does the issue occur on both AC power and battery, or only while plugged in?
- What graphics driver version is currently installed?
I hope this helps.

Hello,
Thank you for the response.
The stuttering occurs across multiple games, not just one title. I have reproduced the issue in games including Destiny 2, The Witcher 3, Call of Duty, Bodycam, Dungeon Defenders, Dishonored 2 and others. It can occur during heavy gameplay, but it can also happen during relatively light scenes, menus, or when performing actions such as respawning, so it does not appear to be directly related to GPU load.
The system is a HP OMEN 35L GT16-1773nd with:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070
- RAM: 32 GB DDR5, currently running at the system default of 5200 MT/s
- Windows 11 25H2
- Current NVIDIA driver: 616.92
- Connected to AC power during all desktop gaming tests.
I have already performed extensive troubleshooting, including a factory reset/reinstallation of Windows, NVIDIA driver changes, different NVIDIA settings, HAGS on/off, Game Mode on/off, different power modes, disabling MPO, changing RAM from 5800 to 5200 MT/s, disconnecting external USB devices, and a Windows Clean Boot. The stuttering still occurs with a Clean Boot, so it does not appear to be caused by a normal third-party background application.
I have also captured the behavior with CapFrameX, HWiNFO and Windows Performance Recorder.
Some of the relevant observations are:
- Frametime spikes occur even when the GPU is not fully loaded.
- During some stutters, GPU utilization and power drop rather than the GPU clock collapsing.
- GPU temperatures and clocks remain within normal operating ranges.
- CapFrameX shows instances where the CPU-side frame time increases substantially while GPU active time remains relatively low.
- Stuttometer has repeatedly identified DXGI_PRESENT_STUTTER / gpu_pipeline_stall events.
- The issue is intermittent, but reproducible, and results in noticeable freezes/disruptions during gameplay.
I would also appreciate any HP diagnostics you recommend that can specifically test the system.
the experience is truelly gamebreaking and gets me killed in many games. the pc is only a few months old
Sorry for using chatGPT. but i have tried so many things already.
im just desperate at this point.

Hi @ClosingYard,
Thank you for providing such detailed information and for completing extensive troubleshooting.
Based on your test results, this does not appear to be a typical GPU performance or thermal issue.
Since the stuttering occurs across multiple games, persists after a clean Windows installation, and is still present during a Clean Boot, it is less likely to be caused by a game-specific setting, graphics driver configuration, or third-party software.
The key observations that stand out are:
- The stutters occur in multiple games and under different workloads.
- The issue remains after resetting Windows and performing extensive software troubleshooting.
Recommended HP Diagnostics
To help rule out a hardware-related condition, kindly perform the below diagnostics:
- Run the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI tests: (Click here for steps )
- System Test (Extensive)
- Memory Test (Extensive)
- Check for BIOS and firmware updates using:
- HP Support Assistant
- HP Support website
- If available in OMEN Gaming Hub, verify that the system is using the default performance profile and that no custom overclocking settings are enabled.
Considering the issue affects multiple games, Extensive troubleshooting has already been completed, The system is only a few months old, And the behaviour remains reproducible, we recommend running the HP hardware diagnostics and noting any failure IDs that may be generated.
