Good day, i just got my GT16-0364 weeks ago from Best Buy, i have no idea about computers at all, im one of those guy that buys something that you can use immediately, but after owning it, i got interested about what people are saying that desktops are future proof. So, i was thinking of changing the processor to a higher kind if thats the right term. i have the 8700F and im looking at 9600x, is it possible to change it? will there be any issue if i change it? thank you so much

Greetings @mb1002

Welcome to the HP Forum.

The GT16-0364's: chipset and MB processor socket would support a Ryzen 9600X. And both processors (8700F and 9600X) are 65 watt TDP components.

But HP would also have to include 9600X BIOS support. I can't find any HP documentation on CPU support for your PC's MB.

So I don't know if your PC will POST after swapping in a 9600X.

And I can't say you would have a "wow" moment if the 9600X upgrade is successful.

A 9600X is close to $200.00. But the specs for each processor are very similar.

You can review each processor's specs at the following links:

8700F

9600X

I don't think I would spend $200.00 to swap in a 9600X.

Regards
