GTX 1050 and p6310y Compatibility Question

HP Recommended
Pavilion p6310y
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Is the Gigabyte/Nvidia GTX 1050Ti graphics card compatible with a Pavilion p6310y desktop?  The motherboard is a M2N78-LA.  How can you tell which graphics card is compatible with which computer/motherboard?  Thanks.

Bob

Hi Bob

HP sold this PC starting in 2009.

Nvidia graphics cards starting with the 700 series cards (700, 900, 1000) and newer, require a newer BIOS introduced in late 2012, early 2013 named UEFI.

Newer AMD graphics cards also require UEFI BIOS.

Nvidia 600 series cards will run in your PC. You have one other limitation, your power supply is 300 watts. Beefier graphics cards usually require a minimum 400 watt power supply.
