HP Omen Optimizer keeps trying to install. at first it replicated itself about 300 times. i booted into safe mode and removed the program.  Also i DO NOT have any HP equipment on my gaming rig. that solved my out of memory issues.  about three days ago i started to get this:

Dutch925_0-1720800588063.png

every time i start a game or program.  I have deleted the local contenet it is trying to install from but it keeps comming back.  I have run malware bytes but it does not come up as anything.

I hope one of the Brainiacs from HP may have a clue. But i am not holding my breath.(as a precaution)

Thanks

Hi @Dutch925,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're dealing with a persistent issue related to the HP Omen Optimizer software trying to install itself repeatedly, despite your efforts to remove it. Here are a few steps you can take to try and resolve this.

Manual Removal in Safe Mode:

  • Since you've already removed the program once in Safe Mode, ensure you've deleted all related files and folders associated with HP Omen Optimizer. These might be located in:
    • C:\Program Files
    • C:\Program Files (x86)
    • C:\Users[YourUserName]\AppData\Local
    • C:\Users[YourUserName]\AppData\Roaming
  • Make sure to delete any remaining folders related to HP Omen Optimizer.

Registry Cleaning:

  • Use caution with this step, as editing the registry can cause system instability if done incorrectly. Press Win + R, type regedit, and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
  • Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software and delete any HP Omen Optimizer entries if found. Always make sure to back up your registry before making any changes.

Check Startup Programs:

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
  • Go to the Startup tab and disable any entries related to HP Omen Optimizer.

Using Cleanup Tools:

  • Consider using third-party cleanup tools like CCleaner to scan for leftover registry entries and temporary files that might be causing the program to reappear.

Block Installation:

  • Create a firewall rule or use a third-party firewall program to block the installation attempts of HP Omen Optimizer.

Check Scheduled Tasks:

  • Open Task Scheduler (Win + R, type taskschd.msc, press Enter) and look for any tasks related to HP Omen Optimizer. Disable or delete them if found.

Update System and Drivers:

  • Ensure your operating system and drivers are up to date. Sometimes, outdated software can cause compatibility issues that lead to such problems.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
