I've owned my 25L for almost 2 years now and recently, i got bored looking through the glass so i decided to add more RGB case fans.. Not so simple thanks to HP geeks.
My 89EB HanaL motherboard has 4 RGB headers, Zone 1 is 5V 5 pin, Zone 2-4 is 12V 4 pin. It does NOT support aRGB 5V system so don't try to plug a 5V aRGB 3 pin fan to the 12V header as it will burn up the LEDs in the fan instantly!
I bought a 3 pack of Thermalright TL-C12C 120mm aRGB fans from Amazon and a 12v to 5V (RGB to aRGB) converter for $18 from eBay and that did the trick. Those fans run much quieter than the OEM ones, move more air and they blow air straight and not up or down like other ones out there. I am able to control the fans using Omen Gaming Hub and they do what i want them to do.
But, here is the main problem with the Hana motherboard; The ONLY zones that i can control are Zone 1 and 4. Zone 2 & 3 are nowhere to be found! If i plug the 90mm OMEN case fan to zone 2 or 3, the software does not find it and it just stays on full white color.
The only solution i found was to buy a RGB 4 pin splitter and connect the aRGB adapter along with the 90mm exhaust fan to Zone 4 and control it that way. You only get to choose ONE color/effect on all fans so ALL fans will do the same. It's better than nothing at all or having everything flashing random colors.
There is also an issue i found with Omen Gaming Hub; After version 1101.2412.5.0, i was NOT able to control the lightning on my HyperX RGB RAM, it was no longer supported so i found an older version of OGH 1101.2412.5.0 and installed it, then i've blocked OGH in my firewall settings to stop it from updating itself. Even if i uncheck Auto update in MS Store, it still gets auto updated somehow and removes the RAM RGB control.
Here is my setup: 25L GT15-0304, RTX 3060Ti (HP version), 32GB RAM (16GB HyperX and 16GB Fury) XMP1 at 3733, Samsung 980 Pro, Noctua NH-U9S CPU fan.
You did notice the 2 120MM intake fans and yes, i did UNrivet the useless bracket and cut out a hole in the front for the intake fan. Now, my GPU stays cooler since it's double of the 1660. As for the RTX logo, no way to control that either so if you want it blue, paint the LED blue. I wanted red so red sharpie did the trick.
