This august my HP Omen PC decided to blackscreen up on startup. Hard reset did not work, had to send the PC to the repair as the warranty was still on (bought the PC at november 2022, 2yr warranty). After week or two, it came back. Now I got the same issue AGAIN. 8beeps, after that, blackscreen. Now it does not give the beeps, only blackscreen. PC turns on, keyboard lights up etc but no display.
I live in Finland, the calling centre is not on for the weekends. I used Whatsapp to contact HP, and they guided me to try hard reset, CMOS reset and windows+B (dont know whats it for, bios update?). Didn’t work. Tried to ask what to do next, got long answer times and because of that the Whatsapp help got closed for the day.
So, anyone have any ideas what should I do next to try and get the PC to work? How about the warranty issue: now, the warranty is expired, am I entitled for free repair or other compensation, since it is the same issue again, just a couple months after getting the PC repaired. I’m really in quite a tight spot, since I do my work on my PC, the repair times take quite long when you have to send the PC out. Investing for a completely new one is quite tough, since I’m a student, and don’t work full-time. Had to save up a while for this one.
sorry, if the text got confusing, just feeling quite desperate to get the PC back working again😄

Hi @svkuk
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're facing a frustrating situation with your HP Omen PC, especially given that the issue seems to have reoccurred soon after a previous repair. Here's a breakdown of your next steps, both for troubleshooting and dealing with the warranty issue:
Troubleshooting Steps
Check for External Display Issues:
- Sometimes, the issue may be with the monitor or cables. If possible, try connecting your PC to an external monitor or TV to see if the issue persists. If the external display works, the issue might be with your primary monitor or its connection.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Even though you've already tried this, make sure you're doing it correctly:
- Turn off the PC.
- Unplug it from the power source.
- Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to drain any residual power.
- Plug the PC back in and try turning it on again.
Check the RAM:
- If you’re comfortable opening your PC, reseat the RAM (take it out and put it back in). Faulty or improperly seated RAM can often cause black screens or boot issues.
- If you have more than one RAM stick, try removing one and booting with just one stick to see if that resolves the issue.
CMOS Reset (Battery Reset):
- A CMOS reset can sometimes help when there are issues with the BIOS. You can try this by removing the CMOS battery on the motherboard for 10-15 minutes and then reinserting it. This will reset BIOS settings to their default state.
Boot Into BIOS:
- If you can see the HP logo, try pressing Esc, F10, or F2 to enter BIOS (depending on your model). If you can access BIOS, this suggests the issue might be with the operating system (Windows). If you can't access BIOS, it’s likely a deeper hardware issue.
Windows Recovery:
- If the PC is booting but not displaying anything on the screen, try to perform a Windows recovery. Hold down the Shift key and press F8 to enter recovery mode. If that doesn’t work, you may need to create a bootable USB with Windows to try to repair your OS.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
