OMEN by HP 45L Gaming Desktop PC GT22-1000i (6C1R8AV)

Hello,

I hope someone can help me out with an issue I have.

I bought a new HP-Omen 45L 13900K 4090 4x16GBP Kingston RAM last week. Some games seem to crash either immediately after start-up or a few minutes in. For example Cyberpunk 2077 - the moment I go on the create a character screen. Overwatch 2 either on the main menu or the moment I join a game. Funny enough this is very inconsistent behaviour. For example Diablo 4 did crash on the character screen at 1st but now runs just fine with ultra settings and I get 400FPS. No crashes with it since. Diablo 2 resurrected - I can get in game but once I got outside of town it crashes.

All crashes are to the desktop without any error messages. Only exception is Overwatch 2 where I get a "your rendering device has been lost" notification.

I do not believe it's a hardware problem but I could be wrong. There is no overheating. I haven't done any overclocking, although I did change some settings a bit in the attempt to fix the issues. All the updates and drivers are up to date. Same as Bios. I did memory tests. Fresh Windows installations and tried different Nvidia driver variants with DDU. Changed power settings and in game settings. No change yet.

So far the only thing I noticed is that with lower settings some games may start up but still ultimately crash. Which leads me to believe it's something to do with the software somewhere as again for example Diablo 4 runs fine with ultra settings and no crashes.

Do let me know if you can give some suggestions. I have already contacted HP but am wating to hear back from them as it's a bank holiday today in the UK I don't expect to hear from them until later in the week.

Hi @Godsend_x

Welcome to the HP Forum.

Your PC is about a week old. You have reinstalled Windows to no avail.

You should have a return the PC for a refund/exchange option.

I would guess you may have a hardware problem. You have some beefy hardware generating a lot of heat and drawing a lot of watts.

You can test hardware by stressing the CPU and graphics card locally. This would eliminate the network and other gaming software installed as variables.

But I would also return the PC's BIOS settings and Windows settings to HP factory settings.

Download and run the following software to test the CPU and the graphics card:

CPU, Cinebench R23

Graphics card, Furmark

It is difficult to isolate the cause of the crash in a forum. Could be a network or game software issue. It could be a power supply problem, intermittent MB voltage problem, or a RAM problem.

Regards
