Hello
I had just performed a Windows 11 update called 22H2, and after restarting properly I also found a HP BIOS update through the windows update screen.
The update went fine as far as I know since a HP BIOS screen appeared and it went through the process but after restarting it just shows a black screen after stating up.
The lights on the front and inside the desktop light up but the screen stays off.
I have tried stating up while holding windows key + B as well as pressing f10 repeatedly while starting up but neither things show anything on my screen.
I noticed however that my speakers light turn on but my keyboard of mouse lights stay off.
Any suggestions please?

Hello @XavierDK
(1) Use (another Windows computer) to create <USB flash drive>
HP Consumer Desktop PC BIOS Update | F.12 Rev.A | 13.7 MB | Nov 16, 2021 | Download |
Follow --->>> BIOS Recovery Reinstall with USB
( This tutorial shows a notebook. The method also works for a desktop computer! )
(2) Repeat reflash procedures:
- windows + b <USB flash drive> not connected
- windows + v <USB flash drive> not connected
- windows + b <USB flash drive> connected
- windows + v <USB flash drive> connected
Keep me updated
Kind regards

Hello
This took a bit longer than expected. I have an older laptop I tried to use to make the USB drive but it always froze during installation so I wasn't able to complete it.
I was now able to create the USB drive on another computer, but still nothing happens when I try this process.

Hello Xavier.
I'm betting you're on the AMD platform, running a 5000-series Ryzen CPU.
The issue you're experiencing is one that many have experienced the past two months.
Apparently updating the BIOS through Windows Update with the "Optional Feature Update by HP" can have similar effects as your update to Windows 11 22H2.
If your computer isn't booting into the BIOS with the USB drive connected, combined with the keypress(!). OR THESE ALTERNATE METHODS TO RECOVER BIOS.
There might be one alternative way to fix it, by taking out the SSD and placing it into a functional computer to 'sideload' the HP ISO with the HP Cloud Recovery Tool onto the original SSD (make sure you don't overwrite the OS of the functional computer xD), then trying the above mentioned methods of BIOS recovery again.
If you can't recover access to the BIOS with the above linked steps OR sideload method, you're in the same boat as I am.
I submitted a ticket, at https://support.hp.com, opted for on-site repair because of the 'premium' status of the PC & lack of support in West-Europe (first service centre is in Hungary). You can read my thread here, or search the forum for "Windows Update Not Starting" and see about 20 similar cases at this point.

Thanks for your input! My computer does indeed have a Ryzen 5000-series 7 CPU. I quickly read through some of the posts you commented on and it definately seems like the same issue as I did HP update via the Winows Upater.
I'm planning on trying the BIOS recovery stick again tomorrow as, like I said, I only have an older laptop that freezes after/during the installation of the recovery program so I had to go to my parents an use their laptop.
I'm not sure about the sideload method as I have no experience with removing computer parts and again, I only have an old laptop available.
I have tried to create a ticket as my PC still has a year of warranty but on the support page all I can see is a redirection to HP Service Center Locator but there's no service center anywhere near me.
How did you get in contact with them?

Tonight you can create a ticket in your HP Dashboard, on the support website I'll link a bit further on.
Tomorrow, at 8AM get on https://support.hp.com, open the virtual assistant, describe your issue and keep asking for a person until it gives you a phone number. It won't give it to you outside of opening hours.
How long you'll have to wait until the phone's picked up I don't know, but it's the only/fastest way to get an actual person on the phone.

Hello @XavierDK
The BIOS can be reflashed with a "programmer" by a professional notebook (chip level) repair store. But there is no guarantee that the notebook will continue to work 100% after that. |
HP warranty valid -> Contact HP Support for service repair
HP warranty expired:
If you can't do that, you should have it serviced by a professional notebook (chip level) repair store.
Alternative:
Buy a good used or new notebook
You decide
