OMEN Obelisk Desktop PC - 875-1040st
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just got an HP Obelisk in the mail yesterday and today I tried to set it up. After getting to a point I was happy with, I tried to turn it off, but the lights and fan wouldn't turn off. I eventually held down the power button for a few seconds, but that caused it to shutdown improperly, and then it seemed to cause so much issues that I had to factory reset it. Take two, got it back where I wanted to stop for the day, refuses to shut down again completely. What is wrong with this thing? I shouldn't have this much of a problem just trying to shut the darn thing down.

Hello @Schorl_Tourmali

That is really odd. If you go to Start/power/shut down, it does nothing?

If so, reboot and go into the bios and reset it. Save and exit.

F10 at power-on should access the bios.

Then turn off fast startup.

Easiest way is to open a Command Prompt (CMD) with admin rights from the Search bar.

Then type...

powercfg –h off

and hit the Enter button. Exit the CMD.

powercfg –h on will turn it back on if wanted.

If the above doesn't help, You can force a shut down with a simple bat file.

I have created one and put it in my Google Drive. download and place it on your desktop and run it.

See if it shuts down now.

This happened to me as well. After a few months of playing with the power settings and updating the bios it finally started shutting down reliably. Now idk if it was messing with the power settings that helped, so I would recommend making sure your bios is up to date through the HP center on the bottom right side of the taskbar.
