HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop PC TG01-2000a (2Z6E2AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi - whenever I am playing a game on my HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop, there are times when everything freezes. Somehow audio is still playing, but my computer freezes and I have to hard restart the computer. This would happen whenever I am an hour or two into the game, or whenever I start playing a game after waking up my computer.

I have already installed all updates for the computer via HP Assistant, and I even installed new RAM as I thought that was the initial issue at first (upgraded from 8GB to 32GB RAM).

Is there any way to solve this? Is it an issue with my graphics card or something else? I have read the forums dating back a couple years and found people having a similar issue, with the resolution being to just update the computer. I have everything updated, yet this problem is still persisting and is very frustrating.

Please let me know if you have a solution to this - thank you!

@rafay695 , welcome to the Community.

You should check the temperatures in the computer when it freezes, since it happens after playing the games for awhile.  If the computer is getting too hot it would cause it to freeze.

@Old_geekster - thank you for providing that information! Two questions:

- How would I go about checking temperature on my computer?

- What would be the solution to this problem if the issue was related to overheating?

Please let me know of any questions - thank you!

I want to add that my computer doesn't seem to be loud or hot while I game.

- How would I go about checking temperature on my computer?  You can use Omen Gaming Hub to check the temperatures.  Also, you can use one of the third-party apps for that purpose.

- What would be the solution to this problem if the issue was related to overheating?  The solution would be determined by the component that is getting hot.  If it is the processor it may require a better cooler or more paste, etc.

Please let me know of any questions - thank you!

Hi @Old_geekster - thank you for the detailed responses. Seems like my PC isn't heating up or anything when running games, checked through Omen gaming hub.

I do not think it is overheating that is an issue - there must be something else wrong... is anyone else experiencing this with their HP Pavilion? Maybe because I got it from Amazon something came defaulted...

Any other ideas on what the issue could be aside from overheating?
