HP Victus 15L TG02-0013W

I have upgraded the following already : Added a 2nd Crucial 8GB RAM DIMM (now 16GB) and also added a Samsung Evo 850 500GB SATA SSD. All worked fine.

I now want to replace my existing 512GB NVMe SSD on the Motherboard with a Samsung 980 2TB with Heatsink. Will I have any issues with the 350W PSU? Do I need to upgrade to a 500W? Thank you!

Hi @FathomThe1st

Welcome to HP Support Community!

Thanks for outlining your upgrade path so clearly—it’s great to see how methodically you’ve expanded your system’s capabilities.

To your question: replacing the 512GB NVMe SSD with a Samsung 980 2TB (with heatsink) will not require a PSU upgrade. NVMe SSDs, even high-capacity ones like the Samsung 980, draw very little power—typically around

5–8 watts under load, which is negligible compared to what your 350W PSU can handle.

Since you’ve already added a second RAM stick and a SATA SSD, your current power draw is still well within the safe range for the stock PSU, assuming you haven’t added a high-end GPU or other power-hungry components.
