HP Victus 15L
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello. I'm using a HP Victus that boots perfectly without any troubles but some seconds after booting, it freezes and no one can use it. I tried restoring to previous state, but it freezes almost at middle of process.  I also tried opening the computer, removing RAM module and SSD disk, reinserting both of them. But this didn't give me any better nor worst result.

Hi @LuisKawaii25 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're encountering a frustrating issue with your HP Victus laptop freezing shortly after booting up. Since you've already attempted some troubleshooting steps like restoring to a previous state and reseating the RAM and SSD, let's explore a few more potential solutions:

  • Update Drivers and BIOS: Outdated or corrupt drivers can cause system instability. Try updating your graphics card driver, chipset driver, and any other relevant drivers to the latest versions available from the HP website. Additionally, ensure that your laptop's BIOS is up to date.
  • Check for Overheating: Overheating can lead to system freezes. Make sure your laptop's cooling system is functioning properly. Clean any dust or debris from the vents and ensure that the fans are running smoothly. How to Reduce the Heat Inside an HP Laptop to Prevent Overheating | HP Support
  • Run Hardware Diagnostics: HP laptops usually come with built-in hardware diagnostic tools that can help identify any potential issues with your RAM, hard drive, or other components. You can usually access these diagnostics by pressing a specific key during startup (often F2 or ESC). Run a comprehensive hardware test to check for any failures. • Check for Malware: Malware infections can cause system instability. Run a full scan of your system using a reputable antivirus program to check for any malware or viruses.
  • Windows Safe Mode: Boot your laptop into Safe Mode and see if it still freezes. Safe Mode loads Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, which can help determine if the issue is related to software or drivers.
  • System Restore from Boot: If you're unable to complete a system restore from within Windows, you can try booting into the Advanced Startup Options menu and performing a system restore from there.
  • Reset or Refresh Windows: As a last resort, you can consider resetting or refreshing Windows. This will reinstall Windows while keeping your personal files intact (in the case of a refresh) or remove all files and reinstall Windows (in the case of a reset).
