Victus by HP 15L Gaming Desktop PC TG02-0000a (4H509AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello!

I've been going at it for the last two weeks trying to fix these issues, and I'm sure I've tried literally almost everything. Posting here was genuinely a last resort lol. I've been experiencing stuttering - showing in the way of frame drops and slight freezing of gameplay. I have updated all of my drivers, uninstalled Adrenaline as per multiple peoples opinions, and did a lot of the tweaks people have suggested online. I'm at a loss. The current six drivers that have a high DPC output are: dxgkrnl.sys, wdf.01000.sys, ntoskrnl.sys, storport.sys, HDAudbus.sys, and ndis.sys. Thanks for whatever help you can give me, I greatly appreciate it.

Hi @zad0309

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for laying this out so thoroughly—what you're dealing with is genuinely frustrating, especially when gameplay stutters despite all your efforts. High DPC latency from drivers like dxgkrnl.sys, ntoskrnl.sys, and ndis.sys can absolutely cause frame drops and freezing, and it often stems from a combination of driver stack conflicts, power delivery inconsistencies, and background kernel interruptions.

Let’s walk through a structured recovery plan tailored to your Victus 15L TG02-0000a running Windows 11.

Step-by-Step Fix for High DPC Latency and Stuttering

1. Disable Dynamic Ticking and HPET

These timers can cause latency spikes in gaming workloads.

  • Open Command Prompt as Administrator
  • Run:
    bcdedit /set disabledynamictick yes
    bcdedit /set useplatformclock true
  • Restart your system and test gameplay performance

2. Switch Power Plan to High Performance

Balanced or HP-restricted plans can throttle CPU/GPU under load.

  • Go to Control Panel > Power Options
  • Select High Performance
  • Then click Change plan settings > Advanced settings
    • Set Processor power management > Minimum processor state to 100%
    • Disable USB selective suspend
    • Set PCI Express > Link State Power Management to Off

3. Update or Roll Back Specific Drivers

Even updated drivers can introduce latency if not optimized for your chipset.

  • Visit the HP Victus 15L TG02 Driver Page
  • Reinstall or roll back:
    • Realtek LAN/Wi-Fi drivers (for ndis.sys)
    • Audio drivers (for HDAudbus.sys)
    • Storage controller (for storport.sys)
    • Chipset and MEI drivers (for wdf.01000.sys and ntoskrnl.sys)
    • Graphics drivers (for dxgkrnl.sys)—use HP’s version, not AMD Adrenaline

4. Disable Background Services and Scheduled Tasks

Some services cause periodic spikes in DPC latency.

  • Press Win + R, type msconfig
  • Under Services, check Hide all Microsoft services, then click Disable all
  • Under Startup, open Task Manager and disable all items
  • Restart and test performance

5. BIOS and Firmware Update

Outdated firmware can cause kernel-level interruptions.

  • Download the latest BIOS for your TG02-0000a from HP’s site
  • Install and reset BIOS settings to defaults
  • Disable C-State and Cool’n’Quiet if available

I know you’ve already done a ton of work—your persistence is clear. Let’s get your Victus running smooth and stutter-free.
