I've been a long-time owner of an Omen 30L desktop running Windows 10 (version 22H2) with an Intel i9 10850K CPU. Every few months, I encounter an issue where the CPU throttles its clock speed down to an extremely slow ~800 MHz when the CPU load surpasses about 25%, despite its usual speed of 3.6 GHz. Typically, adjusting my power plan settings has resolved this issue in the past, but this time, that didn't work. I've tried seeking help from customer support and online virtual assistants without success. Is there a way to permanently disable CPU throttling to resolve this problem once and for all? I've heard about tweaking settings in the BIOS, but I'm not sure where to find the relevant options or what specific settings to look for.

I have exactly the same problem as you with my 30l, my cpu is stuck at 0.78ghz. It started a few months ago and when I launched omen gaming hub, it would start working again but I had to go several times to the power options. But recently, nothing works. I managed to improve by disabling the recommended HP and activating High performance power plan and setting everything to 100%. But at times it's not stable. I'm disgusted considering the price I paid for my 30l...

@cedricFrench@umaier,

Here is a similar Intel down throttling discussion: [SOLVED] - i9 10900f throttled to 800mhz overnight | Tom's Hardware Forum (tomshardware.com).

Perhaps you want to consider a BIOS reset and see if its factory settings would resolve your issue. Also, make sure you got HP's latest BIOS version.

Kind Regards,
