Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11
When i looked up my pc on microsoft, they had bitlocker listed and also had a check that my system was bitlocked but when i clecked on manage my bitlocker keys it stated:
"You don't have any BitLocker recovery keys uploaded to your Microsoft account.
Note: If someone else helped you set up your PC, the BitLocker keys you're looking for might be on their account."
On the hp webite it states:
"BitLocker Encryption is enabled, by default, on computers that support Modern Standby. This is true regardless of the Windows 10 version (Home, Pro, etc.) is installed.
My question is did anyone receive a bit locker recovery key from hp for the omen 45l? It would seem they bitlocked the windows drive but didnt give any recovery key to microsoft or myself. This really locks down the system as if you ever need to update firmware in bios or major hardware changes windows asks for that key. From what hp says it is very important to keep key in a safe place but how can i do that?
HP web site states:
"It is vital that you back up your BitLocker recovery key, and that you know how to retrieve it. Do not rely on keeping the key solely on the computer. If you cannot access the key when needed, you will lose access to all data on encrypted drives.
"NOTE: One routine reason for needing the BitLocker recovery key is in case of performing updates that affect the TPM data, including BIOS updates."
