Hello, I’ve trying ram upgrades with no success all registered ecc ram. Started with 2x4gb sticks that work perfectly fine p/n-752367-581. Trying to put in 4x8gb plus the 2x4gb. P/n- 752368-581 for the 8gb sticks all hp products. When inserted get the red error light and beep 5 times. I would appreciate any help and feed due to me being ignorant to pc stuff.
Thanks Xavier

Welcome to our HP community forum!
It so happens that an HP 440 Workstation was my most recent HP legacy desktop upgrade project: Solved: Upgrading an HP Z440 Workstation - HP Support Community - 9015888, I think you may find the link useful.
I used a matching 4 x 16GB Samsung M393A2K43BB1-CTD6Q DDR4 PC4-21300, 2666 MHz, ECC, Registered DIMM (RDIMM), dual-rank (2Rx8), 288-pin) server RAM kit, which runs incredibly well in "quad mode":
Link: HP Z440 Workstation Performance Results - UserBenchmark.
You need to install 4 x 8GB RAM in a particular slot # order, the same configuration as my 4 x 16GB RAM:
Depending on what processor you got installed in your Z440, in my case an Intel i7-6900K, RAM speed can be as high as 2400 MHz. Also, your 8GB p/n: 752368-581 RAM runs at single rank 1Rx4, not particularly optimal for a desktop which happily accepts dual rank (2Rx8) RAM.
I would recommend ECC (server) RAM, not Non-ECC RAM.

Thank you for the info I’m about 75% sure i installed them in that configuration but I’ll double check tonight! My z440 cpu that it currently has is a E5-1660 v3. I’m pretty sure it needs registered ecc ram so idk if the 752368-581 is compatible? I got all 4x8gb for $40 on eBay. This all a learning process for and I’m willing to learn and appreciate the help.
thanks.

You are correct: only registered DDR4 DIMM (RDIMM) RAM is supported: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04506309:
The HP p/n: 752368-581 RAM should be compatible. Please make sure that all four RAM sticks are identical: matching in every way, including brand, model and their single rank rating: are they all 1Rx4, or is there a 1Rx8 RAM stick? Point is, thou shalt not mix RAM. Not just to obtain best RAM performance, but also to avoid your system not accepting it.
One thing to try is to remove all RAM sticks, inspect each of them carefully to see if any of them are damaged or see if there is any debris that needs to be cleaned. If you got it, use 99% isopropanol alcohol on a Q-Tip and carefully clean the copper RAM connections.
Next: inspect your RAM slots carefully and clean them out using compressed ("canned") air, then choose two of your 8GB RAM sticks, install as per the Z440 RAM diagram, and see if your desktop boots up. If not, change one RAM stick with another, until you've tried out all possible 2 x 8GB RAM stick combinations. The point of this exercise is to see if any (one?) RAM stick is defective.
