HP Pavilion Desktop PC TP01-2000a (2Z6C8AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I bought this stick of ram (Hynix DDR4-2133 16GB) for my computer and no matter how I configure it with the built in 8GB one as long as the new one is plugged in the computer glows green, but it doesn't really turn on. I don't k ow if it's not compatible or what, I'm just trying to play video games.

The specs of your machine is

            https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c07916587

It has  8 GB DDR4-3200 MHz RAM (1 x 8 GB). You can buy same EXITING RAM and install to slot 2. Your Hynix DDR4-2133 16GB is NOT compatible.

Machine supports

  • Dual channel memory architecture (One DIMM per channel)
  • Two DDR4 UDIMM (288-pin) sockets
  • Supports up to PC4-25600 (DDR4-3200)
  • Supports 4 GB and 8 GB DDR4 UDIMMs
  • Supports up to 4 GB on 32-bit systems
    note:
32-bit systems cannot address a full 4.0 GB of memory.
  • Supports up to 32 GB (unbuffered) with two 16 GB DIMMs on 64-bit systems

You can upgrade to 32GB using the following compatible RAM:

Have you tried just installing the new ram? Mixing RAM is usually not supported.
Especially since the RAM stick you bought is slower than the one that's included.

If you don't mind the slightly longer loading screens to be able to utilize the stick you bought (and it's 16gb vs the previous 8gb),
try sticking in just the Hynix stick.

However, as Banhien said, you might as well get a 16gb or 32gb DDR4-3200 set, they're not too expensive at the moment.
