HP Omen GT12-1563nd
Microsoft Windows 11

I bought the HP Omen GT12-1563nd a couple of days ago and I want to upgrade my RAM, I currently have installed: 2x HyperX Fury DDR4 3200Mhz 8GB (HP37D4U1S8ME-8XR). However i can't find the same Ram sticks anywhere. I want to upgrade to 32 GB and still want to keep the RGB. How can i upgrade this the best way without losing any performance or functionality? I also checked the HP parts surfer, nothing.

Those are kingston sticks and can be bought from them.

Question:  What speed are they actually running at?   Have you checked with CPU-z or HWINFO64?

The reason I ask is that my Area-51 came with hyperx rated at 2933 but my i9-7900x CPU was only rated for 2666 and my uncore speed runs about 2400 so I was "oversold" by Dell.

I have since replaced my 4x8 with 4x16 that are 2666 and far cheaper.

I love your RGB but it would not be visible on my Area-51 unless I left the side cover off.

Hi.

I got the HP Omen 30L GT13-1879, Ryzen 7 5800x liquid cooler , RTX 3080, 16GB ram, 1TB ssd, 750w 80 plus platinum., wifi 6 and bluethooth 5.0.

Great computer, look nice and run cool.

However I wanted to upgrade ram to 32GB.

I bought HyperX fury, DDR4, 3200mhz RGB ram ( as was in the pc ).

I installed it, it say 32 GB ram and seemed fine.

I tried go in BIOS in windows 11 to up the speed an all 4 ram sticks to 3200 mhz. but can NOT.

I looked in HP omen gaming hub, in overclock it was a "turbo " for ram.

But after put in 2 sticks in slots 1 and 3 that RAM boost in OMen game hub seem to be gone.

So I got this computer with good specs, good quality inside, BUT I can NOT upgrade ram speed ???

This computer ( same config ) cost 2365$ on HPs own page.

It say it can be upgraded to 64GB ram, and to Ryzen 9 5900X.

So WHY, why HP can I not upgrade ram speed ?

Is there any way around this ?

Or is the only solution to buy another set of ram sticks directly from HP ?

I mean this isnt good commercial / reputation for HP.

Omen 30L is the flagship, great specs and not cheap.

So ram speed should be accessable for HP OMEN buyers !!!

Open BIOS to make changes in XPM1 or XPM 2, let customers get access.

BTW

Ram stick 1 says now 2400 mhz

Ram stick 2 say 3200 mhz

Ram stick 3 say 2400

Ram stick 4 say 3200

They are all 3200 mhz, HYPERX fury, DDR4, RGB ram.

But seem computer smash all down to speed of 2400mhz.

This isnt good enough by HP !!!!

IF ANYONE HAS A SOLUTION FOR GO AROUND THIS, THAN PLEASE SHARE AND ENLIGHTEN US 😉

What does CPU-z say for your memory?  What is your "Uncore" speed?

Have you tried tweaking using the Ryzen Master?

https://www.amd.com/en/technologies/ryzen-master

Where did you get your additional two sticks?  They must not be matched to the other two.

Here is my CPU-z

What we see in CPU-Z for each module are the default speed.

What we see in CPU-Z or directly in the Windows Task Manager is the running speed.

I have 4*16GB Kingston running at 3200 (activate XMP Profile 1 in the BIOS) and here is what I see :

Hope it helps 🙂

Windows task manager reports the type of ram you installed, not the actual speed. Your chips have a SPD setting (a code) that reports 3200 . It can be underclocked or overclocked to anything. Mixing chips usually causes all to run a the speed of the slowest or there can be problems. Toms hardware or any of the overclocking forums might be able to help you with your ram configuration better. HP and other OEMs do not recommend overclocking and all recommend you always add matching ram to your system.
