Hi @Roshan_D5,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

If your HP Pavilion Desktop PC TP01-2000a (2Z6C8AV) is skipping frames in games like Minecraft or simple Steam games, despite having been factory reset, it could indicate an issue with the hardware, drivers, or settings. Here are a few steps you can try to diagnose and resolve the problem:

1. Check for Windows Updates

  • Ensure that your operating system is fully up-to-date. Sometimes, missing updates can cause performance issues.
  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.

2. Update Graphics Drivers

  • Outdated or corrupted graphics drivers can cause frame skipping in games.
  • Visit the HP Support website or the graphics card manufacturer's website (NVIDIA or AMD) to download the latest drivers.
  • Alternatively, use Device Manager to update your graphics driver:
    • Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
    • Expand Display adapters.
    • Right-click your graphics card and select Update driver.

3. Check Game Settings

  • Ensure that the game settings are optimized for your hardware.
  • Lowering the graphics settings in games like Minecraft or other Steam games might help reduce frame skipping.

4. Monitor CPU and GPU Usage

  • High CPU or GPU usage can cause lag and frame skipping.
  • Use Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) to check the CPU, GPU, and memory usage while running a game.
  • If any component is maxing out, this could be the cause of the issue.

5. Check for Background Processes

  • Background applications can consume resources, causing performance issues.
  • Close unnecessary applications running in the background.
  • Use Task Manager to identify and close resource-hogging programs.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Roshan_D5,

Please find the next steps below.

6. Scan for Malware

  • Malware can cause performance degradation.
  • Run a full system scan using Windows Defender or another reputable antivirus program.

7. Check for Overheating

  • Overheating can cause your CPU or GPU to throttle, leading to reduced performance.
  • Ensure that the PC's cooling system is working correctly and that there is adequate airflow.
  • You can monitor temperatures using software like HWMonitor or MSI Afterburner.

8. Test with Other Games or Applications

  • Try running other games or GPU-intensive applications to see if the issue is specific to certain games or general.
  • If all games exhibit the same behavior, it might point to a broader issue with your system.

9. Consider a Hardware Upgrade

  • Depending on the specifications of your HP Pavilion Desktop, it might be worth considering an upgrade, such as adding more RAM or upgrading the GPU, if it’s feasible.

10. Check Power Settings

  • Ensure your PC is set to High-Performance mode in the power settings.
  • Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep > Additional power settings, and select High Performance.

If the issue persists after trying these steps, it could indicate a more serious hardware issue. You might want to consider contacting HP Phone Support for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
