Hi, I have had this laptop since February this year and it has never exceeded 60 fps on any game.  it is an OMEN 17 with a Nvidia 4050 graphics card, AMD Ryzen 7 processor and 16GB of RAM. I have tried changing in game graphics setting to boost fps, I've tried ensuring game mode is on, (which it is) and many other troubleshooting steps but have had no luck. when buying this laptop, the description described it as having 'ultra-high FPS' which has not been the case for me unfortunately. I am at a bit of a loose end as I don't know how to solve this issue.

Hi thanks for your reply. I have fixed this issue now. I went into nvidia control panel and the max fps was set to 60fps lol. Its uncapped now and im getting 160+fps on AAA games now 🙂

Greetings @amirahxo

Welcome to the HP Forum.

A low FPS gaming problem is difficult to solve. The system could struggle if you are playing demanding AAA games that have higher component requirements.

How many processes are running in Task Manager when the system is idle? How many startup items in Task Manager?

The mobile 4050 is a baseline GPU. This GPU has 6 GBs VRAM. Many newer games like, at least, 12 GBs of VRAM.

16 GBs of system RAM is decent.

A mobile Ryzen 7 should be good to go. But it will have frequency limitations. Modern games like high frequency processors.

I would say the 4050 is probably the primary bottleneck.

But many running processes and startup items will also degrade system performance.

Try some of the tweaks at this Site to see how it goes.

Again, the 4050 will struggle when playing demanding games.

Greetings @amirahxo

My pleasure.

Wow, Nvidia's default settings caused the FPS problem.

I would never have thought Nvidia would do something like this.

Good to see all is well.
