Hey does anyone one if a Hp 15 series-ef1023dx can have a CPU and motherboard replacement as I like the design of this computer and want to be able to use it. Does anyone know what motherboard with a built in CPU I can use.

Hi @Soldier3

Welcome to the HP Forum.

Yes, the CPU and chipset are part of the MB. Upgrading only the CPU would be very difficult.

HP have designed this PC, as configured, using the specific MB included.

Is there a chance a different HP MB would work in the case? Possibly, but I would have no idea which HP MB would work.

All of the replacement MB I/O would have to line up with this specific case and you might need a different external power supply to power a different: MB, CPU, and graphics card.

You would need different firmware and software to run the new MB. You would have to get a new Windows product key if you want an activated copy of Windows.

Thank you so much. I guess I might need to upgrade my power supply if im getting a new mb. Also, how do I get an product key.

Hi @Soldier3

My pleasure.

I think you may have a tough time finding a different HP (only) motherboard that works with your Laptop.

You can buy a new retail (transferable to a different PC) Windows product key at the Microsoft Store. Or many online sites sell legitimate OEM Windows product keys (not transferable) at significant discounts.
