Hello Support Community,
My last post was about me not being able to fit a new graphics card into my PC. My PC case was too small, it didn't have the right power supply, and it didn't have the proper PSI cords or something. My solution to that is to get a new PC case and take it and my computer to Best Buy's GeekSquad services and have them take the parts from my old computer and put them into a new case. So I was wondering, is this possible? Like, will my old smvb motherboard fit into the new case, along with the other parts? Is it even possible? I wanted to know before I went to Best Buy and asked them. Please feel free to let me know. My device is listed in this post above.
I have everything linked below.

hi
see the kb of @old_geekster
Moving HP Motherboard to a new...
most of the time if the motherboard can be installed, it may be difficult to connect certain elements..
I already see at least this
Front Ports
1 x USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C, 2 x USB 3.0, Audio I/O, Power button, RGB control button |
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06638240
Front I/O ports
- (1) Headphone/microphone port
- (4) USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port (5 Gbps data transfer)
- (1) USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port (5 Gbps data transfer)
- (1) HP 3-in-1 media card reader ( SD/SDHC/SDXC)
I had quickly gone through your problem
I don't really know where you are, but even if it means changing the case, change to a motherboard that can use a standard power supply, which is not the case with the original HP one
So you might also be able to use a more powerful power supply than is currently possible.

Hi,
Thanks for your response, however I'm not exactly sure what you mean. I'm not installing the motherboard into a new case myself, I'm going to ask Best Buy to do it. I'm just wondering if I need to buy a new motherboard or if I can use my old one. Is it compatible with the case I've linked? Please clarify what you mean.

Whether it's best buy, it doesn't change anything, did you read the article I mentioned..
And see, what is mentioned on the ports of the motherboard, and the case!
moreover you have no advantage, apart from the space in the box, to install an hp motherboard in another box!
it doesn't change the fact that the HP power supply is special, and you can't use whatever you want as a power supply
After what I have sometimes read from best buy here, it is not with them that I would go anyway!
