My laptop is an HP Omen 16. It was working fine. I decided to turn off graphics card as I wasn't using it in the mean time to conserve battery. I have 2 users: HP and OMEN. I decided to switch user to Omen and it has been stuck on "please wait" since then.

Hi @Khadijah_16,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP Omen laptop might be encountering a software issue, possibly related to the GPU settings or the user switch. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Hard Reset: Sometimes, a hard reset can resolve issues like this. To do a hard reset, disconnect the laptop from any power source, remove the battery (if possible), and hold down the power button for about 15-20 seconds. Then reinsert the battery, connect the power source, and try turning on the laptop again.
  • Safe Mode: Boot your laptop into Safe Mode. This will load the operating system with only the necessary drivers and services, which can help identify if the issue is caused by a third-party application or driver. To boot into Safe Mode, restart your laptop and repeatedly press the F8 key as it boots up. Then select "Safe Mode" from the boot options menu.
  • System Restore: If you're able to boot into Safe Mode, you can try performing a system restore to revert your laptop back to a previous state when it was working fine. Go to Control Panel > System and Security > System > System Protection, and then select "System Restore" to follow the wizard.
  • Check GPU Settings: Since you mentioned turning off the graphics card, it's possible that this action caused some conflict. If you can access the BIOS settings, try resetting them to default or re-enabling the graphics card if it was disabled.
  • Check User Accounts: It's possible that there's an issue with the user profile. If you can boot into Safe Mode, try creating a new user account and see if you can log in successfully with that account.
  • Diagnostic Tools: HP laptops often come with built-in diagnostic tools that can help identify hardware issues. You can access these tools by pressing a specific key during startup (usually F2 or F12). Run a thorough diagnostic to check for any hardware failures.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello,

It seems your HP Omen 16 laptop got stuck on "please wait" after switching users to "OMEN." To resolve this, try force restarting the laptop, booting into Safe Mode to check for software conflicts, or using System Restore to revert to a previous working state ADPVantage. Additionally, ensure your drivers are up to date and consider running a disk check for any errors.
