Hi @Alanasin ,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

If your HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-ec2004AX is experiencing sudden crashes or automatic shutdowns while playing games, there are several potential reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot:

  1. Check for Overheating: Gaming laptops can generate a significant amount of heat during gameplay. Overheating can lead to sudden shutdowns to prevent damage. Ensure that the laptop's cooling system is working properly. Use it on a flat, hard surface to allow proper airflow, and consider using a cooling pad.

  2. Update Graphics Drivers: Ensure that your graphics drivers are up to date. Outdated or incompatible graphics drivers can cause crashes during gaming. Visit the official AMD website (since your laptop has an AMD processor) or use the HP support website to download and install the latest graphics drivers.

  3. Adjust In-Game Settings: Lower the in-game graphics settings to reduce the strain on your laptop's hardware. High graphic settings can demand more power and generate more heat, potentially causing the system to shut down.

  4. Check for Windows Updates: Make sure your operating system is fully updated. Windows updates can include important fixes and patches that address system stability and compatibility issues. Click here for drivers

  5. Run Windows Memory Diagnostic: Use the built-in Windows Memory Diagnostic tool to check for memory (RAM) issues. To run this tool, type "Windows Memory Diagnostic" in the Windows search bar and follow the on-screen instructions.

  6. Check for Malware: Perform a full system scan for malware and viruses. Malicious software can sometimes cause system instability. Use a reputable antivirus program to scan your laptop.

  7. Power Settings: Check your laptop's power settings. High-performance power plans might lead to increased heat generation. Consider using a balanced power plan or a plan optimized for battery life.

  8. BIOS Update: Check if there is a BIOS update available for your laptop on the HP support website. BIOS updates can address hardware-related issues and improve system stability.

If the issue persists after trying the above steps, it's advisable to contact HP support for further assistance. There could be underlying hardware issues or specific solutions related to your laptop model.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
