OMEN by HP 25L Gaming Desktop PC GT15-0000a (4Q9S4AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Omen 25l will not boot after a windows update. Its has been a couple days since it happened. When I turn on the PC, it goes to boot but it freezes on the omen logo or on the logo while it says preparing to repair. I’ve managed to get into windows a couple of times in the course of troubleshooting but nothing seems to be a permanent fix. The last time i got in was due to accessing a restore point, but now even the restore points have disappeared. Am I screwed? Do I have to re-installed windows or is there a solution for this? I have ran out of things to try other than just fully re-installing windows.

Greetings @TrinyBlaze

Welcome to the HP Forum.

Can you recall what type of recent Windows updates were installed? I'm wondering if the recent Windows update included a HP firmware (BIOS) update.

Start the PC. Repeatedly tap the "ESC" key.

Select "F10". See if you can poke around in the BIOS for a while to check stability.

Don't do any BIOS changes. When your done exit the BIOS.

Not being able to do a successive restore point recovery in the WinRE is not a good sign.

It sounds like possible Windows boot loader corruption and maybe registry corruption.

Microsoft shut down automated Windows registry backups a while ago. Recovering the registry is a no go.

Have you tried any other recovery options in the WinRE?

I can't provide a fix. You may have to remove the system drive, connect this drive to a different PC, and backup data.

Data on the system drive will not be recoverable if Windows Device Encryption (BitLocker) is enabled.

Then reinstall Windows. HP has a Cloud Recovery option.

Maybe this YouTuber can assist if you want to try fixing the UEFI System Partition before reinstalling Windows.

Regards
