Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

Before turning on my PC, I have to manually turn on the electricity, and now as soon as I turn on the electricity, my PC turns on by itself.

I'm wondering what's going on, there's a grey background screen that appears before opening the PC,
I have a grey screen with ‘CMOS 502’ written on it, so according to the web, I have to go here https://support.hp.com/si-en/document/ish_3966820-3438449-16

I've just read the whole text.
I don't really understand what I should do, shouldn't I put a USB key with Rufus installed on it and then Uninstall/Install a New Bios Update?

And I have the impression that the link I found doesn't answer the 502 problem, which is totally blocking me, could you please help me @Helper Hp ? pleease ! ❤️

This position is a translation of this one: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Gaming-Desktops/Mon-PC-d%C3%A9marre-tout-seul/m-p/9295879#M28551
And I would ask you to use simple English, without abbreviations of any kind, because I have trouble with English - I use deepl.com to translate my words and yours.

I referred to the old job I'd done,

‘HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Window 2.5.0.0 do’ and I think enable BIOS-System firmware update, hope it doesn't do anything stupid.

I clearly need help, please.

The "CMOS 502" error usually indicates a CMOS or BIOS issue. You may need to replace the CMOS battery or reset it. To update the BIOS, you don’t need Rufus. Instead, download the BIOS update from HP’s website, run the update, and follow the instructions. Let me know if you need step-by-step help!

@Embuscade,

You are experiencing the CMOS 502 error, which typically indicates a corrupted BIOS or a CMOS checksum error. Here’s a structured way to assist you:

1. Addressing the Automatic Power-On Issue:

  • The fact that the PC turns on immediately after power is restored suggests that BIOS settings have been reset or corrupted.

  • Check the BIOS Power-On Settings:

    • Restart the PC and enter the BIOS (F10 during boot).

    • Look for Power Options or Advanced Settings.

    • Check if “Power On After AC Loss” or similar is enabled. If so, set it to Disabled.

    • Save and exit.

2. Fixing the CMOS 502 Error:

This error means that the system lost BIOS settings, which can happen due to:

  • A dead CMOS battery.

  • A failed BIOS update.

  • A corrupted BIOS firmware.

Step 1: Try a Hard Reset:

  1. Unplug the power cable.

  2. Press and hold the power button for 15-30 seconds.

  3. Reconnect the power and turn the PC on.

  4. If the CMOS 502 error persists, proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Replace the CMOS Battery:

  1. Open the PC and locate the CMOS battery (a small coin-cell battery on the motherboard).

  2. Remove it and wait 5-10 minutes.

  3. Insert a new CR2032 battery.

  4. Restart the PC.

Step 3: Restore BIOS Defaults:

  1. If the PC boots, enter BIOS Setup (F10).

  2. Look for an option like "Load Setup Defaults" or "Reset BIOS".

  3. Save changes and exit.

Step 4: Reinstall the BIOS (If Needed):

3. Answering the Question About Roles:

  • The ability to "Manage roles" on the forum might be a glitch or a forum feature. It does not grant real privileges.

Let me know if this helps!

Kind Regards / Cordialement,

NonSequitur777
