Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000 (680A2AV)

My computer won't charge and I don't know what it is. I've had this computer for a year and have only now cleaned it (should have taken better care) I do not think it's the charger but it could 100% be the problem as it and the computer have heated up to a conserning amount at times. I've looked everywhere for solutions all I want to know is if I have to buy a new charger or if I can fix it myself. (Ps is there a way to check if the charger doesn't work without a different device to plug it into?) Thank you! Have a great day!

Hi @DaaaaBears ,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Victus gaming laptop is not charging, there are several potential reasons for this issue. Here are steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

Check the Power Outlet: Ensure that the power outlet you are using is functional. Try plugging in another device or use a different outlet to see if the issue persists.

Inspect the Charger: Examine the charger for any visible damage, such as frayed cables or bent connectors. If you find any issues, it's possible that the charger needs to be replaced.

Test with Another Device: If you have access to another compatible device, try using your laptop charger to see if it charges the other device. This will help you determine whether the issue lies with the laptop or the charger.

Perform a Power Reset: Shut down your laptop and disconnect the charger. Remove the battery if possible. Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds. Reconnect the battery (if applicable) and the charger, then turn on the laptop to see if it charges.

Update Drivers: Make sure your laptop's battery and power management drivers are up-to-date. Sometimes outdated drivers can cause charging issues.

BIOS Update: Check if there's a BIOS update available for your laptop on the HP support website. Sometimes, BIOS updates can address power-related issues.

Check Battery Health: Many laptops come with built-in diagnostics tools that can check the health of your battery. Check your laptop's user manual or HP support website for information on running diagnostics.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
