Hi @Benjamin1009,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your OMEN by HP 40L Gaming Desktop PC is experiencing significantly slower download speeds compared to other devices on the same network, there could be several potential reasons for this issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Check Network Connection: Ensure that your gaming desktop is properly connected to the network via Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi. Sometimes a loose or faulty connection can cause slow speeds.
  • Restart Modem/Router: Sometimes, network issues can be resolved by simply restarting your modem and router. Power them off, wait for a few minutes, and then power them back on.
  • Update Network Drivers: Make sure that the network drivers on your gaming desktop are up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause connectivity issues. You can usually update drivers through the Device Manager in Windows.
  • Check for Background Downloads or Updates: Make sure there are no other applications or services running on your gaming desktop that are consuming bandwidth in the background. This could include things like automatic updates, cloud backups, or streaming services.
  • Disable QoS (Quality of Service): If your router has QoS settings enabled, try disabling them temporarily to see if it improves your download speeds. QoS settings can sometimes prioritize certain types of traffic over others, which could be impacting your gaming desktop's performance.
  • Check Firewall/Antivirus Settings: Your firewall or antivirus software could be blocking or throttling your gaming desktop's network connection. Try temporarily disabling these security measures to see if it improves your download speeds. If it does, you may need to adjust the settings to allow your gaming desktop full access to the network.
  • Test with Different Devices and Network: If possible, try connecting your gaming desktop to a different network or using a different device on the same network to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is with your gaming desktop specifically or with the network itself.
  • Reset Network Settings: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, you can try resetting your gaming desktop's network settings to their default configurations. This can sometimes clear up any configuration issues that may be causing slow speeds.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it's possible that there may be a hardware problem with your gaming desktop's network adapter or another component causing the slowdown.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
