o i bought a new CPU and my pc will automatically shut off when i try to start it up, like it wont even open.

 

i have a OMEN by HP 45L Gaming Desktop gt22 x

Your issue is most likely due to CPU incompatibility. The OMEN by HP 45L GT22-0074 was originally designed for 12th Gen Intel processors ONLY, and there is no official confirmation (yet) that it supports 13th or 14th Gen CPUs like your i9-14900KF.

 

Steps to Troubleshoot:

 

  1. Reinstall the Original CPUIf your system boots normally with the original CPU, then the i9-14900KF is likely incompatible.
  2. Update to BIOS F.34 Rev.A – The latest BIOS (Jan 13, 2025) may improve system compatibility. However, HP has not confirmed support for 14th Gen CPUs in this update.
  3. Check CPU Compatibility – Based on actual User reports, all OMEN 45L GT22-0xxx systems run 12th Gen CPUs only. If 14th Gen CPUs aren’t officially supported, your system won’t boot with the i9-14900KF.

 

Recommended Action:

 

  • If updating to BIOS F.34 does not help, your system likely does not support 14th Gen CPUs, and you’ll need to return the i9-14900KF.
  • Instead, consider a 12th Gen i9-12900K, which is fully compatible.
  • If you want to use 14th Gen, you would need a motherboard swap, which isn't practical in an HP prebuilt.
