Hi @dakdodd
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Screen flickering and glitching on your OMEN by HP Gaming Laptop 16-wd0063dx can be caused by driver issues, refresh rate settings, or even hardware problems. Here’s how to troubleshoot:
Step 1: Check for Driver Issues
Boot into Safe Mode
- Restart your laptop and press F8 or Shift + Restart to enter Advanced Startup Options.
- Select Safe Mode and check if the flickering persists.
- If the issue stops, it’s likely a driver problem.
Update or Roll Back Display Drivers
- Open Device Manager (Win + X → Device Manager).
- Expand Display Adapters and right-click your graphics driver.
- Select Update Driver or Roll Back Driver (if available).
- Restart your laptop and test the screen.
Step 2: Adjust Refresh Rate
- Right-click on Desktop → Display Settings.
- Scroll down to Advanced Display Settings.
- Check the Refresh Rate (try lowering it to 60Hz or 120Hz).
- Apply changes and restart.
Step 3: Check for Windows Updates
- Go to Settings → Windows Update.
- Install any pending updates, especially related to graphics drivers.
- Restart and test.
Step 4: Run HP Diagnostics
- Restart your laptop and press F2 to enter HP Hardware Diagnostics.
- Run a Display Test to check for hardware issues.
- If errors appear, HP support may need to replace the screen.
Step 5: External Monitor Test
- Connect your laptop to an external monitor via HDMI or DisplayPort.
- If the external display works fine, the issue is likely with your laptop’s screen.
- If the flickering happens on both screens, it’s a GPU or driver issue.
Try these steps and let me know if the issue persists!
