This is the 2nd HP Omen 45L I have purchased and both keep freezing. Everytime I do a Cinebench test it freezes. Has also frozen a few times just browsing and trying to do windows updates. First machine was i7 13700k. 2nd Machine i9 13900k. Temperatures are fine. Only strange thing that on the i9, I was getting thermal throttling on a few cores when the CPU Core package had only hit 84c. Shouldn't actualy throttle until 100c. HP Omen Gaming hub I have set to performance mode and all windows updates are done and I am on the latest bios, F.04 . When I called technical support for the first one that was freezing, they didn't know why. Checking  windows event viewer, nothing is standing out that I can see is causing the issue. Also, not sure why, but in HP Omen Gaming hub, in Overclocking tab, I see the 8 P cores, but only 4 E cores showing rather than 16 E cores showing, which the i9 13900k has. Anybody know why that is ...?

Hi @theogain,

Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see that you are facing freezing issues with your OMEN by HP 45L Gaming Desktop PC .

I suggest that you follow the steps listed below to perform a hard reset on the unit:
- Press and hold the power button to power off the PC.
- Disconnect all cables and devices from the PC. Also, disconnect the power cable.
- Press and hold the power button of the PC for 15 seconds and then release it.
- Reconnect, the power cable, keyboard, and the mouse and power on the PC.

You may also test for hardware failures by following the steps from the document.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

The computer is already packed to go back. I did restore the computer and that made no change. I was unable to do a hard reset after the last time it froze, the computer just beeping when I tried to restart.

I wonder if this is a curropt BIOS udpate.  The computer comes with F.03. The first one I had I updated the BIOS using HP support assistant. I didn't experience any freezing but sent it back because of some very high thermals. The next one I updated the BIOS with choosing optional update in Windows and updating the BIOS that way. Started freezing right after that. The third computer Windows 11 strangely updated the BIOS without me even choosing to. Freezing started after that. The only strange thing I noticed was that the F.04 BIOS udpate that windows was offering was 2nd Feburary and different date than what is stated on HP website of F.04 Rev.A date of 7th of February. No idea if these are two different BIOS updates or if this matters ...

I'm trying one more time and have a computer arriving Monday. I'll try to update the BIOS from HP Support Assistant or directly from  HP website and hopefully will not have any issues...

I updated the BIOS with the new machine, using HP Support Assistant this time instead of Windows. Not sure if this is what fixed the issue, being that the last two computers I used Windows instead to update the BIOS, but the new computer has had no issues with freezing.
