Hp pavilion power desktop pc

I have had issues in the past with this PC with the blue screen of death and I fixed it and now when I try to turn it on, it will beep for 30 seconds and then it will stop and the HDMI cord will not work through it. It works for my Xbox and other device devices, but it doesn’t work for my PC and I don’t know what’s happening.

Hi @5Hampton,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I'm sorry you're dealing with these issues on your HP Pavilion Power Desktop. It sounds frustrating to have gone through past problems only to encounter a new one now. Let's work together to identify the cause and get your PC back up and running.

  • Have you recently made any changes to the hardware (e.g., adding/removing components) or software (e.g., updates, drivers)?
  • What is the specific pattern of the beeps? (e.g., long, short, or a series of beeps)—this can help identify the issue.
  • Have you tried using a different HDMI cable or connecting to a different monitor to rule out the cable or monitor as the problem?

Identify the Beep Code

  • The beeps are likely a diagnostic code. Count the number of beeps or note their pattern (e.g., long vs. short).
  • Refer to the HP support site or your motherboard’s manual to decode the beep pattern. This can help identify hardware issues, such as memory, GPU, or CPU problems.

Reset the CMOS

  • Turn off the PC and disconnect it from the power source.
  • Open the case and locate the CMOS battery (a small, round battery on the motherboard).
  • Remove the battery for about 5–10 minutes, then reinsert it. This will reset the BIOS settings.
  • Reconnect the PC to power and try turning it on.

Inspect Hardware Components

  • Open the case and ensure that all components, including RAM, GPU, and cables, are properly seated and secure.
  • Remove and reinsert the RAM sticks and GPU to ensure proper contact.
  • Check for any visible signs of damage or loose connections.

Test with Basic Configuration

  • Disconnect all non-essential peripherals (e.g., external drives, USB devices) and only connect the monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
  • Try booting with one RAM stick at a time if you have multiple sticks. This can help identify faulty RAM.

Test Another Video Output Port

  • If your desktop has multiple video output options (e.g., DisplayPort, DVI, or VGA), try connecting your monitor through a different port.
  • If you have an integrated GPU (on the motherboard) in addition to a dedicated GPU, connect the HDMI cable to the motherboard port to test the integrated GPU.

Recommendations

  • Check the PSU: If the power supply unit (PSU) is failing, it may not provide enough power to the GPU or motherboard, causing the system to beep and fail to boot.
  • Run Diagnostics: If the system boots after any of these steps, run hardware diagnostics by pressing F2 during startup to check for hardware errors.

If none of the steps work, there may be a hardware failure (e.g., motherboard or PSU) that requires repair.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
