Microsoft Windows 11

Has anyone else been having case fan issues while using the latest OMEN Gaming Hub? I see some threads about previous fan issues resolved late last year with an OGH update, but I just got my PC about a week ago and have issues with the latest version (v. 1101.2201.8.0).

With OGH installed, my case fans will randomly go crazy for a few seconds while gaming, going to full blast and then back to normal. I have temps pulled up on a second monitor and it happens without there being any kind of noticeable increase/change. After letting the PC idle for a few minutes, the fans start pulsing every second: speeding up, then slowing down, then speeding up, then slowing down, like clockwork. Moving the mouse or hitting a key stops that behavior immediately and it goes back to the usual "random speed-ups every few minutes".

After uninstalling OGH and rebooting, all the weird fan behavior stopped. After reinstalling and rebooting, the weird behavior returned.

@potaco,

Out of curiosity I looked into the issues you described, and it is interesting to note that the most recent user Omen Gaming Hub feedback has been largely positive. On your end, are you up to date on Omen/Fusion/W11?

Please take a look at this link, where a solution to fan issues is mentioned: "To resolve this issue, perform the following to ensure that the OMEN Gaming Hub is running: Ensure that the OMEN Gaming Hub is running in Task Manager."

Link: OMEN 15.6, 16.1, 17.3 inch Gaming Laptop PCs - Fan control options migrated into the OMEN Gaming Hub...

There is also an Omen Fan Control approach offered here that may be of use to you: HP omen 30L Fan hub instillation - YouTube

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards,

EDIT: read your post again and seem we dont have the exact same issue. But could you perhaps see how your GPU is doing. How is your core clock behaving when there is some heat building up.

Hi there, i was lurking these forums because i have the exact same problem. I bought mine 3 weeks ago and from start i had severe fan noise whenever i play more demanding games. The thing is tho that its no the CPU fan or case fans that are revving, its the GPU. I think it has to do with the fact that the VRAM gets insanely hot, HWINFO registers as much as 110º c.

And what i notices more is that the GPU is thermal throttling, and it is doing so even before the GPU hits 60º. When im gaming and my GPU is at around 65º, my core clock has been reduced to about 1400mhz. Its a nightmare.

I even switched cases to get better airflow, bu it really makes no difference. The cooling solution on the board is really sub par.

Now this means i have a computer that can never perform well. As soon as i have been gaming for a few mins fans get crazy and FPS is being reduced. According to MSI Afterburner the card only gives out around 60-65% power to keep the VRAM from melting.

I have been in contact with my reseller and im gonna send it back, the only way to fix this if im keeping the computer is to change all cooling. Switch out the CPU cooler and all thermal padding etc.

@NonSequitor777: OMEN Gaming Hub and Windows 11 are fully up-to-date. The link to the laptop fan issues doesn't seem to apply... For me, the issues only occur when OGH is installed. When I was testing it out, I had it open on my second monitor, so it was definitely running. And regarding the additional fan controller installation, I would hope to not have to pursue that route on a brand new PC...

@Wessla: I haven't reinstalled OGH to check the GPU again today, but I had been using MSI Afterburner to set GPU fan curve and watch the fan speeds. Even while I was having the case fan issues with OGH, the GPU temps were fairly stable around 50 C and I could see (and hear) that the GPU fans were also stable. I don't think my 3060 shows VRAM temps and I wasn't checking the clock, but I've never had performance drops or anything like that, just crazy case fans. I think you're right that yours might be a different issue.

Hello
have you tried the different software modes?
test without any other such software
