Greetings @crws

Welcome to the HP Forum.

I would say you have a PC hardware problem if the monitor is good and cabling/connections to the monitor are good.

I would contact HP Support if your PC is in warranty?

I'm restating your problem. Correct me if my interpretation is incorrect.

Only the PC shows signs of activity when you depress the power button after connecting the PC to AC power.

But you have no video output.

You can only turn off the PC by disconnecting AC power. The power button does not shut down the PC. A wonky power button can cause weird stuff.

A graphics card problem would be an obvious point of interest but this is not always the case. I would try the following stuff if your PC is not in warranty and you want to troubleshoot.

Reduce the PC to a minimum configuration. I would replace the CR2032 MB battery for good measure. Doing this will reset CMOS.

Connect only the following components to check for a good POST and video output:

- Power supply

- Known good monitor only

- CPU

- One stick of known good RAM

- Existing graphics card. Also try a different, known good, graphics card.

(Note, your MB does not appear to support rear HDMI out or Display port out. So you won't be able to try onboard video out).

One or more of the above core components has/have failed if the PC will not POST using a minimum configuration. One of the components not connected to the MB is causing a problem if the PC will POST and you have video.

This is where I suggest having a local PC Tech take a look if the PC is out of warranty. You may need to swap in the remaining replacement components, one at a time, (including a possible MB replacement) to find the bad part.

Regards
