Hello I've bought a new CPU from AMD 5600X.
https://www.wepc.com/news/amd-zen-3-b450-x570-compatible/
So in generell the chipset could work with 5600X but HP must provide a valid bios.
I'm shocked that HP has jet not released a specific BIOS update 😞
Is there a relase date or a statement that HP would not provide a BIOS for the new Zen 3 CPU's for the B450 chipset mainboards?
I have 7 Days left to send the new CPU back to the onlineshop...

Hello
we do not know the model of your computer / motherboard!
but anyway, if you want to install a processor much more recent than the release of this model, in 99% of cases it will not be possible
Hp will only provide bios updates, only for some reason, it usually will not develop a new update, just so that the user can install a very latest processor.
it is very rare anyway, especially if you spend a few generations
therefore, to check if we can have the model of the computer, but you can certainly return it

we need the exact model of your computer, and the product number

Hello Prométhée,
here are the needed Info.
Every big mainboard manufacturer provides an BIOS update. AMD provided the needed information to all manufacturer.
Produktnummer: 8EX08EA#ABD
Seriennummer: 8CG9381L3B
If HP is not providing a BIOS then this will be last time I bought a HP PC.. So much potential is wastet in any way. That is not good for our environment as well. Anyway im shocked!

sorry, but I don't think it will
not at all the same series
- CPU speed: 3.4 GHz (max turbo boost - 4.1 GHz)
- CPU cores: 6
- TDP: 65 W
- Total L3 cache: 32 MB
hp has only tested / validated this in these documents
Processor upgrade information- TDP: up to 65 W
- Socket type: AM4
Processor | TDP |
AMD Ryzen 5 3500 3.4 GHz Base frequency, up to 4.1 GHz maximum boost frequency, Hexa core (Matisse) | 65 W |
AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz Base frequency, up to 4.2 GHz maximum boost frequency, Hexa core (Matisse) | 65 W |
AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz Base frequency, up to 4.4 GHz maximum boost frequency, Octa core (Matisse) | 65 W |
Despite what it calls ‘considerable technical challenges’ linked to constraints in the SPI ROM capabilities of most of the AMD 400-series motherboards, AMD is making a U-turn on its initial decision to cut-off support at the AMD X570 and B550 motherboards and enabling ‘an upgrade path for B450 and X470 customers that adds support for next-gen AMD Ryzen Processors with the ‘Zen 3′ architecture.’
AMD will develop code that will support Zen 3 chips in select beta BIOSes for AMD B450 and X470 motherboards. These updates will cancel support for existing Ryzen CPUs to free up enough ROM space for Zen 3 chips. They will offer a ‘one-way upgrade path,’ meaning that once upgraded, the motherboards will no longer support older BIOS versions.
It would be supposed to be compatible on condition of an up-to-date bios
and certain conditions ..
but this only engages me the computer is not very old, to see what hp will decide the best will be to ask them directly while waiting for
the last available update!

off topic
but there is so much to do nothing to do with this
but I always said to myself, why is it that for laptops, we have not once and for all less models of chargers / batteries
can we not have compatible and universal models regardless of the model and the brand it would be so much simpler and ecological
But hey, we're not ready to change that I'm afraid!
