OVERCLOCKING HP OMEN 870-244: Upgrading to Unlocked i7 7700k - NEED BIOS
10-18-2020 01:51 PM

Hello HP Community!
I am upgrading my OMEN by HP Desktop PC - 870-244 CPU from the Stock/Locked i7 7700 to an Unlocked i7 7700k to improve performance and to enable Overclocking. I've upgraded to latest Motherboard BIOS for the stock Thimphu-K (Z170, LGA1151) but there are NO OVERCLOCKING options in the latest BIOS.
OMEN by HP Desktop PC - 870-244 CPU: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05380412
I have already performed these upgrades and it's been perfectly awesome!!!:
Upgraded GPU: PNY NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Blower 11GB GDDR6
Upgraded PSU: CORSAIR - RM Series 750W ATX12V 2.52/EPS12V 2.92 80 Plus Gold
Upgraded HDD: Sabrent 2TB Rocket NVMe PCIe M.2 High Performance Internal SSD
The last bit of performance I can squeeze out of my beloved OMEN is the CPU. I've been searching for a compatible Motherboard BIOS that can Overclock the Unlocked 7700k upgrade but cannot find one. Can someone please help me find a BIOS that is compatible with this motherboard?:

Thank you,
Shoji

Hi,
Your motherboard supports a 7700k.
But HP does not provide BIOS overclocking options.
It is not recommended to flash this motherboard's BIOS using unauthorized sources.

Try using the Omen Command Center first. Its extremely user friendly and you wont break any thing. Plenty of safe guards in place. IF that does not work. You will have to use Intel XTU to overclock. HP locks out overclocking from the bios directly but, will let you use software. BEWARE Intel XTU DOES NOT have the safe guards in place like the HP OCC does.
