omen 25l gt12-0068na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

hi so when i first got my 25l it didnt have an overclocking function in the command centre.

i had a look at intel xtu and tried to find some info on overclocking this pc.

although it would seem this particular version of the omen 25l doesnt seem to support it.

recently i swear i had the overclocking tab in command centre working and it was possible to change ram settings and even cpu settings. I wonder if this had something to do with the right version of intels xtu software? But just as quickly the setting vanished from command centre. Very strange i know.

i think i rolled back to an old version of xtu to make this work. However i cannot seem to get that function back now and have sinced uninstalled xtu.

Also i just noticed in the command centre that my intel i5 10400 is running at 4ghz constantly on all 6 cores. Although temps are at 32c and everything seems totally stable. Also in CPU-Z the same is showing when this is a F cpu so its supposed to be locked and not overclockable

is this cpu stuck in turbo mode or something? Have i fkd up some settings or something? I dont want to do damage long term or anything and is it bad to have my cpu running at 4ghz all the time? Its not overheating and the voltage is 1volt

one other thing. is the cpu supposed to idle at a lower speed when its not under load?

also i have upgraded the ram to 32gb. It came with 8gb or hyper ram which is 3200mhz.

i bought 2 x sticks of 8gb hyper ram and tried to match it to the ram that came with the computer.

but then i bought a 3rd because it would run with 2 8gb sticks. not 3. so i thought i would just get a 4th stick and know it would not need upgrading again. I got a 1tb ssd as well. Unfortunatly all the other hyper ram sticks are 2600mhz so is there not much i can do with ram speeds?

other than this im really quite happy with my omen and hp products. Also i have a AIO 120mm cpu cooler which i am fitting soon. Just in case anyone is interested, after being delighted with my barebones 25l, i got myself the omen 25i monitor and the photon mouse also. HP stuff is as well designed as it is manufactured. And i hope the keep the quality image going for years yet, unlike dells alienware franchise.

i am getting back into pc gaming and have been playing all kinds from old rainbow 6 to tarkov.

thanks
