Hi,

I have an Omen 30L with RTX 3080 and I've been having an issue ever since I bought it, but I didn't know how to diagnose it.
It manifested as an audio problem after several hours of a mixed workload, from photo/video editing, youtube videos and gaming. The issue was a rhythmical noise pattern that was more or less noticeable at times but would go away after restart.

First I thought it was a RAM issue but then I noticed that while gaming there are stutters in 3D as well, in the same rhythm as the audio issue, so my next suspect was the graphics card. Several driver updates later nothing changed, so I finally decided to try something different and made a switch to NVIDIA Studio driver and it seems to have solved the issue.

I'm still at loss to explain why would Game Ready driver have this problem manifest like that? Is it a memory leak of some sort, because the issue goes away after restart and eventually builds up to it over time.
Or is it thermal throttling?

Theories welcome, although I have the problem kinda sorted. I don't know what kind of a performance hit I'm getting in games with the Studio driver, everything I play is playable, like Kerbal Space Program and some strategies, nothing too intense.

Will have to boot up my Assassin's Creed Valhalla for a better test. It ran well under the Game Ready driver. Have to check with studio.

Anyone else with this issue?

hi

Too bad, I did the test some time ago, but I don't remember why, but I had to go back to the game ready driver!
now, is that a reason, maybe unrelated
I looked a few days ago, and no more recent than the game ready, except today, it tells me for the game 528.02
but newer for studio 528.24
Curious it seems to me that until now, there was a version of delay precisely with the studio

I checked just now and both have 528.24 available.  Studio driver got released one day ahead of Game Ready. Maybe someone just had a last-minute game to add support to the Game Ready driver. 😄

On downloading both I noticed they're exact identical size. 690.50 MB
Hmm... Maybe on this occasion there's no difference.

I'll stay on Studio channel as long as it's stable and have no issues with the games I play. Will probably get a better graphics card once the prices calm down a bit in a year or two. Until then I don't see my taste in games changing so much that I'll need to do some FPS squeezing out of something.
